C300: all shots in one file?

I did some filming around the house today to test the camera and see how it downloaded in my editing system. I noticed that every clip had it own file - example: AA001, AA002 etc.... when I open each one the film clip would be there. The issue I see is when you go out for a full day filming instead of having just one file with 50 clips, you end up with 50 files with just one clip in each file. Any thoughts on this?

Are you asking about the camera 'stitching' all of the clips into one file from one recording session (before the camera is powered off), or did you mean to say "folder" in your post? Like each folder has its own clip?

I'm not sure which software that is, but can you just click on the top 'CLIPS001' folder and import everything?

FCPX is able to do that and I'm assuming Premiere, etc. can too. (It would reject anything it couldn't read/import, but all of the clips would make it in.)

While most cameras write all of their clips into one folder, some cameras arrange their clips differently by creating a folder for each clip (and other files).

When cameras started doing this, NLEs were updated and recognize what's happening, and are able to import all of the footage from the root of the card/folder/etc.

So there's nothing wrong with what you're seeing; that's just how it is. Which software are you using?

I'm not sure about Vegas Pro...maybe it doesn't support the 'import all' MXF workflow. Hopefully someone else can help and/or let you know for sure.
