23. Loveliest Of All
A new spin on an old tale.
I really liked this new take on the old story of Snow White.
Of course, it's probably not for the kiddies. But hey, the hot vampire chick gets the wicked queen back in the end!
The props and sets were good and I thought most of the indoor shots were lit nicely. The editing was good and the "Axe" scene was good as well. Nicely insinuated with a little gore.
It seemed like it was missing something though. Oh, the killer dwarfs!
It could have used a little punch with the scoring and Foley, but it was clean and was easy to understand. Good job!

24. The Unassumed
The good old Security Guard! I remember those days.
My favorite part in this film was the fight scene. It was done pretty well.
Edited and shot good.
The story had me a little confused at the end as to why the security guard would kill the woman after having the dream he was saving her from a bad guy?? Why did he carry the bag into her house. And why did he kill her? Or Did he kill her? It wasn't clear.
I really liked the lighting in the start of the film and the intro sequence.
The shots of the security guard in the car were lit a bit too bright for being night. Even with a street light on him it was too bright.
It didn't feel natural and really toned the "SCARY" factor down for me.
The sound effects and Foley could have used a bit more SPICE. When the knife came out of his sleeve, dropping the gun, the punches etc. But all and all it was put together well.
Good job! I enjoyed it.

25. IN EXTREMIS
Well, please don't go throwing your self off a bridge when you read my review. LOL
A film about a writer who was rejected and depressed commits suicide only to have his book published after his death.
A tragic story indeed.
The effects were done pretty good. Except I was distracted by the lady taking picture of the bridge while he was jumping to his death. LOL I couldn't figure out why she wouldn't be looking at him. And the security guy really didn't tell me much as to what was going on. He didn't seem concerned or in a rush to stop the guy.
And the audio of the guy talking on the phone going through the mail was almost impossible to hear. I had to turn my speakers all the way up to hear what he was saying. I would just work on the audio a bit. And maybe focused on the writer and his grief a little more before the jump.
I think there could have been more done with this story, but it was kept nice and short and to the point. Good work.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
26. The Farmer
Oh the farmer! What an evil man he is!
This film reminds me of the movie me and my brother used to make when we lived in the woods on a farm.
I'm not sure why it was strobbed. If that was a compression issue, or done on purpose. If it was done on purpose I would avoid it from now on. It was very distracting to try and watch.
I think this film was a really good effort and I enjoyed watching it.
My favorite part was the chase scene. The music went well and the timing was good. I couldn't tell how the farmer ended up getting killed so that didn't make sense. And I you should have shown more of an establishing shot for the wake up scene.
But you really seem to have a good sense of timing and composing your shots as well as editing.
It was fun to watch! Good job. Just try and stop that strobe issue.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
27.How To Get Away With Murder
A fun yet dark film that many men can relate to I'm sure.
And the second film in this fest to show a man on the toilet!
It was a funny yet dark film true to many things in a man's life that might push him to the edge. Yet I couldn't tell what his motivation was for bringing his wife back to life? I would have shown a few more clips of the husband doing everything he wanted to but couldn't before. And then be shown why he changed his mind to save his wife in the end.
I was confused as to why he killed her and then revived her back to life.
But other then that this was a funny and yet dark film I enjoyed watching.
The garage scene where he drives the car towards her was a bit scary and dangerous. And although funny and done in a humorous way, the wine was kind of just thrown in because it had to be. But good job and fun film!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
28. The Darkest
This is interesting.
I noticed that the wine name was "Kinetica" which is the name on the hotel card in the film "ONE WAY OUT." Is there something I'm missing here? Are these two films connected some how? Hmmmm........ A mystery.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
29.Darkness Of Hell
This film started me out with hopes.
The first scene looked really good.
But as the film went on it started to fall apart. The inside shots looked like a blue filter was applied which didn't look natural and was too dark.
The acting really needed to be polished up. And I would work on the timing of your editing as well as the quality of your audio and lighting. I know money is always an issue so I understand most people don't have all the cool toys, but you can do a lot with a little.
I do have to say I really liked the look of the first and last shots in the film. They were done really well. Work on the rest and you will make some good films!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
30. In The Night
Maybe it was all that Red Wine. But this film had me confused also and left many unanswered questions.
First, I can't believe a pregnant woman would be drinking wine.
Second, who was Kevin? If she didn't know where he was how did he end up in her basement shooting himself? Why didn't she hear it? And if she was alone, and it was the previous owner who killed himself, how did she know who the guy was when she called him Kevin?? Sorry, but I got lost in there.
And the fact she was such a thoughtless pregnant woman to drink wine made me happy the dead guy went after her in the end. LOL
Apart from the poor special effect of the hole in the head at the end, the cinematography was done pretty well and I thought the editing was good.
Just work on telling the story clearer.
Serves that woman right for drinking while pregnant!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
31. Just Your Imagination
I hate to sound like a broken record. But this film lost me also.
The acting left a lot to be desired as well did the cinematography and story line. But most of all I just didn't get the story or the ending.
I felt the story was rushed along too fast, and yet didn't explain much.
And I couldn't buy that girl was a college professor or teacher. She looked the same age as the smart Asian geek.
I would work on clearly telling a story your audience can understand and then polish up your editing and camera work. Lock down the story telling part, and the rest will come with practice! Keep it up!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
32.PSYCHOSIS
An interesting film although a bit hard to follow.
I liked the look of the film and most of the shots were composed nicely.
The music in parts didn't really fit that well, and I wasn't totally sure what actually happened here. I presume the psychologist killed her patient? I only got that from reading the headlines shown.
A bit hard to follow, but I liked the look and feel of the film.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
33. NEXT PHOTO
This story had potential but seemed to fall short.
I could see where you wanted to go with it but it was confusing.
I understood part of the story, but didn't get the ending.
The acting seemed scripted and forced and the film seemed to move too slow and the music just didn't fit. I would work on telling the story clearer and work on lighting, editing and the actors.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
34. JILL
WALGREENS?
Let this be a lesson to all who take too many prescription drugs!
You might end up going crazy and having a thing for pumpkins!
Or maybe it was just too much Viagra!
I can tell what you were going after, but I think the film was too serious to start out with to be funny by the end when we see he killed his pumpkin wife.
I would work on getting the editing tightened up, cleaning up the audio and and smoothing out the sound fx transitions. As well as trying to button down the story telling a bit.
I still don't understand what the guys issue was with Pumpkins??
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
35. NET FRIEND
This film isn't far off from the truth! I myself have been stalked and received death threats for posting videos on line.
The film told a story that was close to reality and easy to understand.
I really liked all the different shots used and the time spent shooting all the extra little shots. The editing was good and kept the film moving along.
The acting was good, but the audio could have been better.
All and All good film! Keep it up!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
36. Charlie Black
I'm not sure how to take this film because I don't really know what it was about. The shots were composed good, the editing and effects were good.
But I didn't follow what was going on with the guy.
I think you have the feel and look down, I would just work on telling the story so the audience understands what you are trying to say.
Keep doing what you love.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
37. Killer Instinc
An interesting use of cartoons and video in an interesting story.
"He is probably just on his way to Wendy's where his food is already dead and cooked." I loved that line. haha
It's refreshing to see people step out and take chances with films that don't fit the "NORMAL" style of films. I was a bit lost in the beginning but after re-watching your film twice I got what you were doing with the cartoons and the video.
I really liked the outdoor shots in the woods. Very nicely composed and shot.
Keep following your passion!
------------------------------------------------------------->
THE END!
Uhg! It's only 4am and I have spent over 8 hours re-watching and reviewing all your films. For what it's worth I hope we can all learn something new and keep doing what we love! It was a good learning experience for me and I hope you don't all nail me to a cross after reading them all.
These reviews are only meant to give my personal input and ideas into your films to help both you and I become better story tellers in the film world.
I'm no Lucas and have much to learn as everyone does. That's what this is all about!
I have really enjoyed watching what everyone has done and hope to join you all again at the next Fest!!!!!!
