C500: All Camera operations locked except F-stop

So I bought a used C500 almost a year ago now.
Last 2 shoots the camera has locked up on me (none of the buttons working, can't get into menu, etc.)
Only thing that worked was the grip port when I attached my handgrip I could change the f-stop.
First time this happened in a studio shooting QVC footage I just swapped out the battery and it worked again.
Second time this happened (yesterday) I tried everything. Swapping battery out, swapping CF cards out, using DC power, using Anton Bauers, restarting camera.
Nothing worked.
After moving to the next shoot location which took 1.5 hrs it started back up fine again.

Although the camera is now probably 5+ years old I find it hard to believe it could be acting up like this.
Anyone else out there having the same problems?

C500 current firmware 1.0.7.1.00

Check the grip cable/plug. Make sure that it is plugged in to the body(or extension/relocator) completely(give it a little 1/4 twist and push once you think its completely in). If not, it can make strange things happen. It's an issue on the 300 and I'm presuming it would do the same to the 500.

Run&Gun....I don't think the grip/cable plug would have much to do with the buttons on the camera body itself, right? The grip is the only mechanism that appears to work changing the f-stop (thank god cause I can still get a useable image), but on the 500 you don't have any other controls of the camera on the grip plug other than Start/Stop Record, toggle, and quick button 7 which is assignable (which is not possible because I cannot get into the menu when this happens), but regardless I still only have f-stop control on the grip when this happens

Norbro...no dumb questions here, no definitely not locked, I even moved the wheel to media and played back some clips, then back to Camera to see if that would trick the camera back into operation.

You wouldn't think, but it screws everything up. I just checked mine. Pulled the cable slightly out and you still had iris control and record, but everything else was "locked out". No camera buttons worked, no menu access, etc. There have actually been a few threads on here on it.

WHAT! Ok, I guess I have to revisit this when it happens.
Very strange because I will pull the grip out often. I don't like it hanging there because the 500 doesn't have a grip connection.
This may make me find a way to attach my grip re-locator to the camera without having to secure the shoulder rig to the tripod.
I couldn't find those threads, could you share them?
