So nice to get out of a boring, drawn out, meeting to see FCS2 sitting on my desk.

Installing now...

Give more info on fcp pro especially with the hdv stuff
and that very cam.

How long the install
How much smoother it runs
How different final cut itself looks

etc...

Well 5.1.4 didn't have any problems with the A1 that I was aware of, but 6 is also running as expected. I even upgraded half way through a project.

24f / 30f / 60i all work great.
about an hour to install
smoother? Never noticed the old version running sluggishly, but it runs great on my G5's.
Looks the same as it has for years.

Color is insane, it makes me want to go back to school and get a degree in color theory. Very powerful, I have yet to really scratch the surface. It's definately "workflow" based. A lot different than the other Apple apps. It will take time, but I feel the results will be worth it.

My favorite new app is Motion. I liked it before, but I love it now. 3D workspace, I see AE getting used less and less in my workflow. I do still have a few plugins for AE that I will continue to use pretty much forever as I love the results (ReTimer)

So that's it. I've not had enough time with it to give a full blown comparison. I do keep finding new GREAT additions. For example, there is now an "alpha type" selection for compositing right in the timeline. Before it always required a pass in Shake, or a batch in CS2. Now it's real time in FCP. Saves me HOURS per week, which pays for itself in less than a month. GREAT investment.
