Ahh Sound humming

Hi Guys not sure what it is but when I use NTG1 Mic with my xha1 it seems to pick up a humming background noise even though I record with no background noise noticable. It gets really annoying as I want to start shooting film with actors speaking but cant. What could cause this, would it be wrong setting on the camera phantom power or something am clueless :huh:
 
Recording actors you have to get the NTG-1 off the cam and onto a boom, so the mic can be positioned correctly to record suitable/usable dialogue.

At present mounted on the cam you might have the record level wound up to high resulting in induced hum. Try recording a voice 2 feet out from the mic., set the level then listen without voice. See if the hum is still there.
