AG-SW 100 Switcher & HVX 200

Was wondering if AG-SW 100, Audio-Follow-Video Automatic switcher can be used to switch between two HVX 200 Cameras on a two Camera shoot. The production would be in HD and would be directly fed into an Apple Powerbook via Fire-wire. The edit is planned on FCP HD. The mixer would reduce a lot of editing time, especially on conversational sequences between two Actors. Love to hear your comments. AG-SW 100 costs around $ 1,300/- but it saves lots of hours in post-production editting time. :undecided

Nope, sorry.

The AG-SW100 is a composite video switcher, and composite is an SD only format.

I think the cheapest HD switcher that would do the job is this one: http://edirol.com/products/info/v440hd.html

You're better off doing mulicam in FCP5. Editing a 2 camera shoot will be a breeze with any multicam enabled NLE.

I doubt this switcher works in HD, certainly not over firewire.

You'd be better off synching the two HVX200s (time-of-daycode) and using FCP 5's multi-camera feature, which allows you to switch between sources in "real time" (post). You might be challenged running multiple streams of DVCProHD100 on a laptop, though. And you'll still need to deal with recording your two HD sources (eg. lots of P2cards, or 2 PowerBooks?).

This would also give you more flexibility (in case you messed up the switching live).
