AG-HPG20 and HPX170

Can you record AVCIntra100 out SDI using the AG-HPG20 with a HPX170?

I can't seem to locate the specs for input on the AG-HPG20

You can do this for sure. Keep in mind that the output of the HDSDI on the HPX170 is 8bit 422 Full Raster. So even though AVC-Intra is 10bit, you will still be getting 8-bits of information per channel. However you will take advantage of the full raster recording in AVC-Intra.

Hi Andy,
I was planning on buying a HPX170/HPG20 combo from you guys to be a third camera for the new 3700/2700 Varicam's. I'm after a complete 10-bit 422 workflow and was under the impression that the HD-SDI out signal on the 170 was 10-bit. If it's 8-bit I won't buy it, but what can you recommend instead? I need a small camera like this to throw around and grab quick shots. I need something with gamma settings similar to Film-Rec, but I don't want to use a CMOS camera. How about a XL-H1?

Marc.

XL H1 also outputs an 8-bit signal.

Technically both cameras output 10 bits, but it consists of 8 bits of data and two zeroes padded on the end.

I can't think of any low-cost HD-SDI CCD camera that outputs a full 10-bit. Not even the HPX500 does. MAYBE the new JVC 250 or 700? I don't know about those. The EX1 and HPX300 do, but those are both CMOS.
