AG-HMC150 or AG-HPX170? I need help please!!!

since I rarely re-use my cards
Why? These are not tapes. Also, it looks like flash memory loses its charge over time. And it seem to lose it faster than say an HDD or a floppy disk. Which means that flash cards is not the best archival media even if they were dirt cheap.

My favorite aspect of the hmc 150 is that I never have to stop during a shoot to download a
p2 card, and since I rarely re-use my cards I don't have to worry about archiving since I save my cards like they are tapes. I would have bought an hmc 150 even it was more expensive than a 170. The hmc 150 is well .... priceless.
Thanks. The only thing about the HMC150 its the image quality due to the high compression might loose some quality and detail. thats what i think but I haven't test one yet
so I guess that I'll have to buy one and see the what's the quality for my self.
Some people state the HDV its better than AVCHD even the sales man at the store recommend me not to buy it. he states that the 21mb/s it low and with a much aggressive compression compared with the HDV 25mb/sand the new JVC 35mb/s
that was a bummer I was ready to buy it
any ways i think that I'm going to have to see it for my self
and back up you're footage to DVD's or Blue Ray's
thanks guys

Barry Green told you in post 2 that AVCHD is so much better than HDV and he is the acknowledged expert around here. There is a lot more to compression than bit rate and AVCHD is a far more advanced and efficient CODEC. I would never take the opinion of a shop assistant over the knowledgeable folks her who earn a living from these cameras. I guess the choice is yours so I hope you choose what works best for you.

Ken

Anyone who says that is profoundly uninformed. Properly-implemented AVCHD is far superior to HDV and easily a match for the JVC's 35mbps MPEG-2.

Ask Mr. Salesman how come Sony (yes, one of the founders of HDV) says that 9 megabits of AVCHD is visually equivalent to 25 megabits of HDV? And once you have that declaration, from no less than Sony, then you can ask that if 9 megabits of AVC = 25 megabits of HDV, then how on earth could 21 megabits of AVC be not as good as 25 megabits of HDV?

Guy didn't know what he was talking about.

Just make sure you bring enough sunblock !

Thank you all for the great help
and I did listen to Mr Barry Green I got my HMC150 Today!
I just start playing with it today (DRS its great). the thing I was hopping for was a not so jerky zoom ring (it feels as the DVX100b) I'll appreciate a little more resistance in the zoom ring for a more smooth zoom movement.
the Iris ring its great but it would be great that when you set the focus ring to iris the small iris dial automatically become focus and vise versa. not a bad thing but just preferences (nothing its perfect only the Human being)
all in all out for the price and what you're capable to do with this camcorder you just can be pleased. that's why I go with panasonic when you compare it with others feature by feature the others come short
I'm not impress with low light performance so far
but Frame rate choices and formats are great I love it 720/60P 1080/30P etc. I love it
I Ordered today my HMC book. right here from the forum thanks Mr Barry Green
