AG-DVX200 4K Large-Sensor Handheld Camcorder

I got a pleasant surprise from my DVX200 when I took it to a bridal show today. Despite severe clipping from some windows, the color looks almost exactly where I want it and it is even pretty close to a Sony A7rii set in Standard mode with -3 contrast. Here is some footage from the show. Skin tones look just about right to me. The only drawback is that with this customized scene file from one of Barry's original files, I have lost a stop or two of exposure. I was using scene file 4 that I posted here a day or so ago.

I'd say this looks really good. You had a tough lighting situation with those windows but despite that I'd say the image quality looks more than acceptable. I'm going to have to load this into my camera and give it a go.

Those windows behind the stage were a definite bummer. Under the circumstances, I thought the color and exposure looked very good.

As I mentioned the only drawback is the loss of exposure in low light conditions. I guess one has to live with this unless someone has a suggestion...switch to another scene file for low light?
By the way, my method of arriving at this color was to use an existing Scene file that Barry made available to Panasonic. The one with the rich color. Then I took a picture of myself with a Sony A7Rii and kept tuning the Gamma and the color tables till it looked similar...not very scientific but what else is an average user supposed to do.. It could still bear a few tweaks but I feel confident now in using three of these cameras for a wedding next month. I kept hearing in my head, Barry's words about the camera being so painterly! ISO was at 1250.

Here's how bad the clipping was from those windowsclipping!.jpg!

After nearly a year and a half it appears as though dvxuser.com is not going to create a separate area on their site for the DVX200. What would everyone think about someone starting a forum dedicated to to DVX200? I'd rather see it as part of this site being that there is a lot of really good information about many cameras and other industry related subjects already here but for some reason there still is not a separate category on here.

Again, I would like to see it be part of this site but I may be interested in taking on that task. I have a little experience in that field and it would be purely for the streamlining of information and there would be no advertising or monetary profit. I'm not sure that I really want to get back into forum hosting but I guess it's not out of the question. Come on dvxuser.com don't make me get back into hosting again. I'm not trying to take your members but I can't think that it's too big of deal to create another category and let people post there. Let me know what you guys think.

Probably better to go on Facebook, but I will follow where everyone else wants to go.

I am new to this website... just only few months old....what I have noticed is that "very hard to search for a specific topic or words in a specific thread", also having 281 pages so far...its hard to search thru to go back to what one said...so time consuming....facebook ideas is good ...but it might have same issues as we have here.....we need to start split thread into multiple..and move content accordingly so we can route people /queries accordingly...than having a single thread for entire issues...

Hi guys, if anyone is interested, here is a link to a forum specific to the DVX200. This is not meant in any way to compete with dvxuser.com, it's simply to fill the void until a dedicated area is created here or somewhere else on the web. If it doesn't get any or much traffic then it's as easy as pressing the shutdown button.

At the present time I look every day to this thread what's new. At the same time I look to the "Sub-Forums : DVX100" here by dvxuser.
There are some postings from DVX200-User with special problems. I thinks this would be a good solution.
And some few postings about DVX200 you can find in "Sub-Forums : Panasonic - General / Other"

Here in this very great thread located in "Sub-Forums : ANNOUNCEMENTS & NEWS" is the last place I'm looking for by having problems
with the DVX200 or looking for an advice.

My suggestion is to post in future all problems and scene-files in the "Sub-Forums : DVX100".

We could open there two threads with a general header "DVX200 scene-files" and "DVX200 problems".

What is your opinion?

I like this site!
I couldn't agree with you more. I'd like to see all of he DVX200 stuff on dvxuser.com especially being that this site offers all of the other resources that it's gained over the years from eberyone's knowledge combined. It's not rocket science to add an area specific to the DVX200 along with some sub categories but having this one thread now at 282 pages to cover the entire subject is just insanity.

and....bam!
Its own area, thanks!
Yeah! FINALLY. I'll turn off the forum that I did when I get home. That's all I was looking to accomplish by starting a seperate forum. It only makes sense for all of the DVX200 information to be part of this site. Thanks guys!

Good on you Mapper65. It took you starting a new forum to FINALLY fix what should have been done a long, long, time ago!

Cheers,

Barry, are these scene files available in 2018?

Barry, are these scene files available in 2018?

Lower the ISO/gain as much as possible. If you need gain, use HIGH SENS.
Then, lower the detail level to minimize sharpening the noise; once you have the detail where you want it you can consider using detail coring to overcome any residual noise.
I'd like to check them out, but the link says the files are not available.
