Do I save some money and get a 100a now with the $500 rebate, or do I wait another couple of months to find out what the b offers. I have a project coming up that I am going to need a camera for. I would buy the a, but if the b would come out and have 16:9 I will be furious. Anything else I really don't care about.
It's times like these that make me wish I never found this forum!! Sorry for the anger, it just sucks!!
Jan_Crittenden said:>Unfortunately that did not work. I have my camera w/ me right now and it does not have the "P" after the "A" on my model number camera.
Then my friend I am sorry to say but you have a gray market camera and no amount of input will get you past that part of the problem. My suggestion is that you send it back to the vendor that suggested that it was a US model. Your first indication would have been that there was not Magic Bullet or DVX-Book in the box. But your camera is a Japanese camera, based on your model number, and as such, your warranty is in Japan. It does not qualify for the rebate nor the free battery or tapes.
Sorry for the bad news,
Jan

The DVX100B does not have a 16:9 chip set.
If it does, I will give you $500. Feel better?
Best,
Jan

You got screwed. Gotta do your homework for next time. It's not Jan's fault so don't grill her. Spend a little time digging through this website and you will find out all you need to know about Grey market camera and how to avoid that situation in the future. All the best...

Please email me you serial number off list. Along with the name of your supplier and your phone number I will call you.

You might try and call your re-seller and explain the situation. Maybe (slim chance) they will refund your card $200 to keep the sale. If not, perhaps they could re-code your invoice for the 15th, send you a copy and then you do the rebate by mail (be sure to print up the new $500 rebate form). If not, get an RMA.robmyers said:my new dvx arrived today, the 16th. but the invoice is for the 12th. it is difficult, but i have left the box untouched. should i send it back and reprocess the order to scoop up the extra $200? (sans shipping, of course.)
