Aftershock bodycam

well I doubt it will ever be an exact rip off, lesser quality materials and workmanship, and no company to stand behind the product, its fine for those who are students. or for those who make a few $3 or $400 dollor films a year, but I don't think the true target client of glidecam, or your true target clients would go that route.

I actually think its good for a student to have junk like that on their project. cause when it breaks it will give them a crash course of field fixing equipment.

Well, a president of a corporation involved in camera equipment you all know of said through his sales manager that he wanted to discuss the Aftershock Bodycam and its spincam Maelstrom attachment with me. I emailed him information about myself and what the device entailed. I have yet to hear back from him. Hope I didn't scare them off.

So, nothing is moving forward. I am still hoping. I hear that company is full of really nice people who make fine products that many DVXusers use. I can't say who it is yet. :lipsrseal

On th DIY front, I am halfway through making a really nifty dedicated shoulder mount for Matt's new Panasonic Lumix GH1. It will also be used later for the Scarlet cameras we hope to purchase. It has a slidable camera mount that allows camera placement in X and Z axes, a removable shoulder pad attachment, interchangable 15mm mounting tubes of varying lengths, a variable position Bogen 501 mount plate for tripod on the base, a removable top handle with light/blimp mount position, a long lens support base, and places to mount two handles, a matte box and an Indifocus follow focus. I will post an actual photo "how to" when I am done.

After that I will be building a ground mounted or dual tripod mounted 7 foot capable camera slider based on 2"x2" aluminum 90 degree angle stock and nylon precision bearing sliding glass door wheels. It will slide a liquid head with optional counterbalance weights so it has the option to shoot straight down under it. I am hoping to get to it tomorrow after finishing the GH1 shoulder mount. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Thanks. I agree, it is awesome. There has never been anything like the Spincam. I did a rigorous and serious search of all prior art in patent history and nothing has ever been made like it. Just think of the TV companies who have action shows including this into their shot capabilities. I can see it selling to all those guys. and then a simple, inexpensive version selling to we Indie film makers.

I am excited to have the patent pending on this. BTW, EVERY shot in the video was done with the rig in some fashion or another.

I am sending the video and a cover letter to all of the companies that may want to sell it. If no company wants to sell it, Matt and I will market it ourselves and price it to be very competitive. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
 
you should also include the film on the dvd along with this clip, if you can amaze them and make them laugh, it's all the better, they'll love the rig, and they'll be in a happy mood, and people tend to shell out more cash when they are in a happy mood.

We used the spincam on the Ruff Productions Westfest short, "By Hook or Crook." We got a nice shot that will spin about the lead actor

I was disappointed to find a World of Warcraft addon has trademarked the name 'Spincam'. Dang. Oh well. I have to name it something else. ;-)

Maybe it can be a Spin Cam... Two words? Spin Rig?

I have not even been able to think about the Bodycam SpinRig. After we finish the movie I will get back to it again.

It worked flawlessly. We used it on cowboy Dusty Probert in Troy Ruff's WestFest entry, 'By Hook or Crook' and again it went on the actor in seconds and worked flawlessly. The DP Shane Foster and cameraman were the first non-Aftershock outsiders to use the device. They loved it! :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

Gary... YOU da' man!! That is SO cool. Genius, just genius. Now I can't wait for it to hit the market and we can see it in action (ina BTS way).
Best of luck, I imagine you shouldn't have trouble selling it, there's nothing like it that I know of.

Totally agree. I had considered something that was already out on the market, but I was wrong. Darn fine invention. I am sure that this will be a big benefit in the film world. Like Garrett did with his Steadicam, this can sure be used in many action instances. Congrats. Hope you make the big bucks. :)
