After Life

Ted,
We went back and forth with evryone all week on the upload. I don't knwo why it took so long to get it there. It was ready by the deadline, but in the end, I think all the technical difficulties got it bumped. I hope you get to see it. If you do, let me know what you think.

Thanks Matt for providing that link!

Thank you Future user for providing that film!

Wow!

That was emotional, beautiful and pro all the way!

I loved your story and the visuals were just great!

I am going back right now to watch it again!

Ted

thank you Ted. I was afraid I wasn't going to get the stroy arc in under 6 minutes. I'm glad you enjoyed our work.

Nice little film. I felt like the music was a little redundant, and that hurt it a little.

I'm not entirely sure what happened though. Did he do it intentionally, or was it an accident?

Hey again Future user,

Just saw your film again. Really some nice stuff you have going on there.

A few comments if I may.

The Titles are way to small. I don't know if this is on purpose but if your going to put them up, I'd make them readable. And I know that this is a small format, but it seems even in relation to the size of the film, they are small. I may feel differently on a big screen.

The first woman who dies is very hard to make out. You know, the first time I saw this film... I thought the EMT were trying to save her husband. If you could make this more clear, I think it would be better. (I don't like to always be hit over the head with facts, but this is an essential fact and it would be better off clearly known IMO)

I really love your camera work. And you seem to have some nice crane shots happening.

The initial motorcycle driving off scene seems a bit over-exposed. Maybe on purpose but I love how most of your film is right on. If this was shot in the proper exposure and then blown-out in post, I think that you could have a nice effect. (I am being very picky... please forgive me.)

And finally, I would like to see a bit more of the motorcycle crash. Even a bit more footage before the accident. Or a better "blank" besides a long black frame.

Overall, I really like the film. I thought that your lead did a great job. Believable in every department. I would like the girl dying at the wheel to seem to be a bit more at the end of life before she dies, but this may be a choice on your part to have her strong until just before the very end.

And the music.... I don't know. It works. It's annoying, but is that part of the plan?

Sound mixes in and out of first ambulance scene bothered me, or at least I noticed them.

Liked this film A LOT!!!!

I hope more get to see this!!!

Great job and Congrats!

Ted

(please don't take my critiques as a reflection of your work. I just making comments that are there for you to do what you will with them. I LOVED what you presented here! :) )

Ted,
You saw right through me.
Titles were an issue from go. I am still learning all the Vegas stuff. They are easier on a widescreen tv. They are also easier to read on the mpeg2.
I noticed after we rendered the thing I had cut out the scene of her face when she's lying on the floor. Honestly, by the time we got to rendering, I was so punchy I didn't know what I was doing.
The motorcycle stuff was another huge problem. At legal speed, the bike seemed to not even be moving. In both ride-by shots I was traveling twice the speed limit. Just getting the shots was a miracle and I wasn't able to review and adjust.
I bet you would have liked to see more crash. You almost got to. Dump truck + blind curve + rice rocket = dead director.
Girl in the car's first time on film. All lines in the car were ad-libbed.
Yeah, let's not talk about the sound in the first ambulance scene.
Thanks for the compliments.

Future user, OUTSTANDING JOB on your film. I loved the story so much!

Congratulations and Good Luck!

Been a blast,

Ted
