KNEE SETTING TESTS

This test involved simply changing the Knees setting on SCENE Setting "1" within a base set up.

The effects of the Knee were obvious in the studio monitor and the edit suite but display more dramatically in the wave form monitors than they do in these grabs. Very interesting and useful function.

So what´s your conclusion for a post-friendly image with little noise and true colours?

HD Norm / low knee ??

The knee rolls off the highlights as can you can see at the three grey/white steps but I don't think it has an influence in how noise is perceived.

My conclussion after doing the series of tests which gave us the base understanding of what each of the setups does independently is that its a "horses for courses" thing.

ie. One needs to use the correct settings in combination... with consideration to the subject and the other factors such as lighting, exposure etc...

I doubt there is one "do all setting".

Our next test is to understand "Matrix" then do some appropriate tests.

We did conclude that "noise is a slight issue ( very much an issue in CinelIke D) ....but it is resolveable.

BTW: We find this camera amazing in its abilty to capture and reproduce colors very very accurately in all Scene Settings but particularly 1-4.

nice test, I like those stickies! simple and effective. I dont see much drastic difference, very subtle, getting softer @ mid and high ? really hard to tell.
