AF100 workflow

I'm just testing a new AF100 to be used unmanned as a second camera (first camera is a HDX900) Until now we've been using Sony EX1/3. At the end of the shoot we use XDCAM Transfer to convert the files to .MOV and XDCAM EX Clip browser to copy the original files, we then hand the producer a USB hard drive and they use it for editing. This is for broadcasting. What's the best and quickest way to accomplish this with the AF100? Keeping in mind that we want to maintain the best quality.

We use a MacBookPro.

Thanks

Give the producer a copy of the entire Private Folder (structure)

Inform them about 'Clip Wrap' if they need or want to re-wrap to ProRes, DNxHD etc

Clip Wrap does not transcode.

Maybe they can work with AVCHD natively as well.

Hello there,
I have a question for some of you still working on FCP 6 (until I install my 7 ...or just wait for the new X..)
i have footage I shot on the AF100 and it is copied on my drive as DCIP files and other folders. Trying to Log and Transfer the footage was unsuccessful. I was able to view the footage on iMovie just for the interim so I know I have image and sound but not I wonder if my FCP6 is simply not compatible with this footage therefore i can't log and transfer or is it because I am working on macbook still rather than Mac Book Pro? which is another transition I am making in the coming moth...

If anyone has any idea let me know

Cheers

Eve

Nino,
Make sure your producer is familiar with trans-coding the AVCHD codec to whatever edit system they are using or there will be trouble. Not sufficient to just place AVCHD codec in a .mov wrapper. On FCP Studio Pro it's "log and transfer". Footage will be trans-coded somewhere in the neighborhood of real time. Use ProRes LT as the FCP codec. If they havd FCP X then the AVCHD is native. Not sure about AVID since I've never personally walked through the post-production work flow. Not rocket science, but the producer has to understand the process because it's not drag and drop.
