AF100 vs. Red One: A non-definitive, but instructive test...

I posted the charts about ETC mode because I was quite curious about it for my own purposes; if I get similarly curious about GH2 vs. AF100 in similar scenarios I may indeed post such things. But in the past I've tried to answer the call of putting together a big ol' shootout, and that's what I'm saying I'm not bothering with anymore. There's no point to it.

Does that make more sense?

Got it. Well, in that case I hope your own needs will push you to do it :). I mean, you are going to shoot a feature with the af100, and you already have the GH2... who knows, you may find yourself wanting a B cam, and then you'll want to know if they'll cut together :).

All I can say is wow, as I imagine Leo sitting in his chair shaking his head.

I don't post here much, as a matter of fact this may be my first post, and I don't know Leo personally, but his work has crossed my desk many times over the years and it is always top notch.
My take... The camera was making it's rounds and Leo did a quick evaluation the day he had it... Nothing more. So why all the hate?
In my line of work on the video side, I don't shoot epic dramas or bazillion dollar features. I quickly turn around local and regional TV spots. And the AF100 is more than adequate in that regard at an amazingly low price point. All my support gear including lenses I own work seamlessly with the AF100 as well as the Red One, GH13, and Canon HDSLR cameras. It was a no-brainer for me, so mine is on order. The way I look at it is, the camera will pay for itself in a couple of shoots, and will probably be used for 3 years. So everything after the first couple of shoots is gravy.

All the Best!

Dave
