Hey guys... I wanted to post this question before but I decided to do so now because of the latest DSLR video I just saw. I think the AF is an amazing camera, but Ive seen videos made with the DSLR´s that look way more beautiful than any video Ive seen done with the AF... I guess my question is... Why is there not anywhere a Video done with the AF that looks like a Million Dlls... Just like this one...

http://vimeo.com/36305675

Can anybody share a link to a video that looks as amazing as this one but made with the AF???

Thanks guys!!!

Watch the behind the scenes... It's the crew not the camera! Which is the case with just about any good looking production in this day and age. Almost any modern camera in 2012 is capable of delivering an outstanding product if the person or persons behind it are up to the task.

All the Best!

Dave

Cool, but why hasn't anyone achieved (money or not) something this great with the AF100???

What, in your opinion?

There is plenty of great looking video out there from the AF100, as well as other modern cameras that in my opinion surpasses this marketing piece.

Actually, YES, in my opinion, I haven't seen anything like this shot on an AF. If you know of any video, please share... Im dying to see one. Remember, I own and use an AF100... Im not trying to stir up nothing... I just really have that question in my mind.

"A Verse Before Dying" was made before the AF100's release. That was very well done, by a much smaller crew (most if not all members here): http://vimeo.com/18073096

I really enjoyed the D800 video (I love riding bikes, so I'm a little biased), no doubt, but the credit roll was very nearly 1/3rd of the entire video. Yeah, maybe this couldn't have been shot with an iPhone (yet?), but it's true that almost anything halfway decent would've worked, including Nikon's own D7000, a T2i, etc.

There's some thick coolaid in the BtS, too "...much easier than other cameras to rig...", "...the future of filmmaking...", and the best "The Nikon D800 is a game changer, there isn't anything like it out there in the market..." Huh??? Rewind this statement about three and a half years to when "Reverie" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra9XLtjBzUU) was shot on a 5DII and it would've all rang mostly true.

I was going to post the Snow and Hooray for Earth clips - always faves of mine to show.

I would like to know how much $$$ went into the budget of the Nikon clip - as it's certainly not a cheapo production.

Perhaps Panny will learn from this (and teh Canon launch) and commission something 'large scale' for their next camera launch ;)

The Af100 just gets a bad rep for all the wrong reasons. I shoot with one AF100 and 2 hacked GH2's every week and couldn't be happier(Neither could my clients.)

Yea it definitely gets a bad rap but it's not warranted. I made some pretty great images with it while I had one. The camera is more then capable of what people want out of it. It needs to be in the right hands and likely does need a bit more post-cc then the typical DSLR...but that's just fine by me. I found the camera to be a bit too cold and magenta most of the time. A really tiny shift in the other direction always made the shots sing. In fact, because the camera holds information past 100 IRE (110)...even if you do blow some things out a bit more, you can pull things back. With a DSLR it'll just hit 100 and blow out white. I do like how DSLRs tend to roll off the highlights to white the way they do, but IMO you can have a bit more forgiveness with that extra 10 IRE to pull back on the AF as opposed to the 5D or something else, even if people might argue it doesn't handle the over-exposure as gracefully.

NOTE: Slight gamma shift in these...sorry.
