AF100 v.s. Sony F3

As a low budg narrative guy, the AF100 is just too attractive at this price. I don't think that the F3 is "overpriced." I'm sure it's a peach with slightly higher professional broadcast capabilities. I'm sure they'll sell a ton of them. I also think that Panasonic has given us a generous capability regarding lens choice and the F3 seems geared primarily for PL. It's a continuum. Check your bank balance and choose.

The F3 can run the cheaper SDHC cards with an MxR adapter, but the F3 is not the one to compare to the AF100. Different class, different price point, different capabilities. The F3 are for those that are building and moving up to a $30,000 kit with lenses and such, not those moving up to a $10,000 kit.

The one to eventually compare to the AF100 will probably be the NXCam, but that won't be out until the middle of summer. At least I trust Sony to deliver when they say they will, unlike Red. It will have AVCHD, a similar sized sensor and similar price point (tentative $6k MSRP).

Right now there is nothing to compare to the AF100. Nothing, so there's not much to talk about.
