AF100 Lens and Accessory Roundup

The rigs idea would be great!

Right now many have no idea how their going to set up things - which follow focus to use, matte box, rails and the like. It would be great if you guys could make some reccomendations as I said such as: good, better and best systems.

It would be great if you folks could put together some value focused packages as well. I would think you guys get to play with all the toys. Why not make three: "good, better, best" kits?

That would be an actually great service you could do in your videso as well where you could compare your "good" and show the feature that makes the "better" better and "best" best. I know this really would help many out because sometimes it's so hard to see why one needs to spend that extra dollar.

Browsing B&H, based ony my budget and needs I came up with this package:

All manual lens, no problems with FF, at least 2.8, more on certain FLs. Add more lenses if needed/wanted.

The Nikons are probably fine but I would rethink the Bower lenses. Have you used or read any reviews on them?

The 85mm f1.4 Bower is apparently the same lens as my Opteka, which is also named Samyang/Rokinon/Vivitar/Polar/Bower/Opteka/Falcon. While I can't offer a comprehensive Ken Rockwell review, I'm very happy with it for its value at ~$300.

Well... I'm accepting suggestions of a 14mm Nikon mount lens. Those lenses with domes that prevent me from mounting a filter boggle me!

Perhaps I'll consider the Panasonic 14mm f2.5, might be an option since focus racks don't require that much precision and aren't that usual at that FL.

Good to know! Thanks.

Such a fast 85mm at f1.4 for $300 just sounds too good to be true. It's hard to believe it's a good lens. I'm not saying it's not. I've never used it. But it dies sound too good to be true.

How many aperture blades? How does the bokeh look? This is the kind of lens you want to pull out of your bag for instant short dof shots. That would be it's big use. If the bokeh isn't pleasing it could be a waste.
