I want one of those. Which model are you talking about?
Zoom R24 ($450) or Zoom R16 ($370-400). I can't call them very portable
But they work on batteries

No they won't. There's an adapter coming that will make EOS lenses fully compatible with the AF100, and should be out before the camera is even released.
Actually, you can't. No matter how much you spend on a DSLR, you're not going to get a built-in waveform monitor, or overcranking in 1080p, or alias-free images, or metadata, user clip name control, cinelike-D gamma, user-saveable scene files, timecode, the ability to sync timecode with other camcorders through LTC, an HD-SDI output at full 1920x1080 @ 4:2:2 and running at 24pSf, live monitoring during recording through HDMI and HD-SDI and composite all simultaneously, built-in hassle-free neutral density filters, or any of the dozens of other things that the AF100 does that a DSLR cannot do and will never be able to do..
The AF100 is for those of us who want a rock-solid reliable product that has all the features and conveniences we need, without trying to resort to aftermarket modifications.
Somewhere I read this:
"The AG-AF100 has a Four Thirds sensor in 16:9 aspect ratio and captures 1080i-resolution videos in various frame rates (60i, 30p and 24p for NTSC markets, and 50i, 25p and 24p for PAL regions)."
So is this a PAL/NTSC (better to say 50Hz and 60Hz with HD world) switchable camcorder out of the box or not? Can somebody confirm it? Then why are there different models (100 and 101)?
Thanks
I just noticed a major bummer, and I'm sure someone else here noticed it too.
The gain control is L, M, H ... So I'm assuming there's no breakdown of real iso controls. That hurts, that hurts bad.

explains a lot of the ergonomics of the camera, and he promotes using the AVC INTRA sdi recorder with it if you want a higher quality recording, if the SDI is gonna be 8 bit, why are the promoting 10 bit recording?
A. still a good chance that it's gonna be 10 bit sdi, they just haven't unlocked it for the prototype yet
B. they just want to promote their intra recorder and gloss over the fact that it's gonna be a 8 bit signal...
and barry, your on the INTRANETS!!
But he isn't including that because it is "free".
Logic has no place here.
Hey All,
Barry, couple quickies.. May have missed a few of these in the the past 43 pages.
1) Is this cam a CMOS or CCD? Rolling Shutter still an issue if it's CMOS?
2) Is there ISO settings, like 100, 200, 400, 500, ~ 1600, 2000 ect...
3) Thanks!
Brian

No just looked like unhacked GH1 footage. That looked awful.
one of the most stellar things i've heard all day! that is amazing, AMAZING news. any chance you have enough nagging power to convince them that 10 bit SDI is a necessity and they have no choice about it?![]()
