C200: AF Speed Adjustment

So I have a feeling this is a really dumb question but I'm stumped. Just got the C200b the other day along with a Canon 35mm 1.4L and a 24mm 1.4L II. Both are on the approved lens list for DPAF but with both lenses the AF speed menu is grayed out. AF works for both lenses and I can adjust the response, but not the speed. Am I missing something?

Your AF switch on your lens is off?

I just checked mine with my cheapo 18-135 STM IS and those settings light up? Perhaps they only apply to STM lenses? I can check with a non STM lens if you want?

Those particular settings appear to only work with STM lenses as mentioned...at least with my experience and the 50mm STM vs. various Ls.

Are you serious? I've been looking at this camera for awhile and I've never heard anyone mention any limitations with the L series lenses. They're like the primo Canon lenses besides the cinema lenses. It doesn't make sense why they couldn't allow AF speed adjustments.

Just out of curiosity, what settings are grayed out with the Sigma 18-35, to anyone who has one?

With AF mode set to Continuous, the Apply AF Speed Limit and AF Speed are grayed out.

A Sigma rep told me that Sigma lens don't support Face Detection, but my 24-105 F4 will track a face in a CU interview set up.

Ah Okay. The subjects I'm filming are very fast so I'm trying to figure out the best approach. Maybe a dumb question but are EF-M lenses compatible with the C200? Seems like most of choices for STM lenses are EF-M.

For the EF mount (EF-M is different and all of those lenses are STM), most of them are EF-S...and the full-frame DSLR users are the ones with only three choices and have the two best DPAF cameras (5D Mark IV and 1DX Mark II), but barely any full-frame STM lenses...per usual makes no sense with Canon.

So I put on my baby boomer wig and contacted customer service and got this reply

Thank you for contacting Canon product support. I understand that you are unable to enable the AF Speed menu on your EOS C200B. I will be able to address your inquiry.

A list of current EF lenses that support the AF Speed function and AF Response settings can be found at the link below:

I thank you for your feedback and I will make sure to forward your request for allowing AF speed adjustments on any Canon lens to our engineers for review. However, please note that decisions to include a particular camera feature are made by our engineers and product designers in Japan, based on a number of factors. Consumer demand, technological limitations, and customer feedback are all taken in to consideration.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Thank you for contacting Canon.

So if anyone else wants more AF control on their C200, bug the crap out of Canon!

Interesting. Most of the lenses I use are supported, but not all. The STM lenses, if you are shooting exteriors, aren't bad. I've shot with my 18-135 STM IS in Morocco, the Sahara, South Africa, Brazil and now this outdoor-centric documentary I'm shooting off of boats. I also used it to shoot a dance thing for YouTube RED last year, with good stage lighting, it tracked fast moving hip-hop dancers really well too. The overall image quality isn't anything to write home about but it's decent for 4K. Using still lenses is always a compromise with the C series cameras, they really are much better with the CN-E compact servo zooms, those are the sweet spot for the C200, 300 MKII IMHO. But at about about $10k for the pair, you have to be able to afford them and live with T4.4
