Af 105a announced in japan

For the record, I just bought a second GH2 body for 300 bucks, most likely because of the announcement of the GH3.

Sold my AF101 and got $3243 less than two months ago.

You're in Europe right? $3243 is about 2,530 Euros. In Euros it doesn't sound all that much when you consider the price of a new one in Europe.

But I didn't say you can't sell it for more. There's always people willing to pay through their noses. I just said that there have been cameras selling for very little and it's true.

You've gone to enough trouble to find those links for someone who "could care less."

That notwithstanding, I agree I don't think there will be an upgrade because of the age of the camera and we'll have to sell our old ones, for whatever we get, to upgrade to the next one.

No trouble at all. It took about 5 sec. on Ebay.

The resale climate effects lots of other cameras that have depleted resale value, not just the AF100. It's all part of the current landscape. Some of us may benefit from good second hand bargains but upgrades, like the one for the AF100A need to be considered carefully. I think that the level of depreciation is reasonable given of the pace of change and the age of the AF100. I got my money's worth.

It may be that the AF100A does not provide enough incentive to buy a new one. I wouldn't jump on it tomorrow but we'll see how it shakes out, and what, if any other improvements come with it. As described so far, I'm holding pat.

My god you don't stop do you. Now its an ebay witch hunt for a $1000 AF100 to "prove" your point.

This thread should be about the new features of the AF100A, not a GH2 extremist trying to convert the AF100 blind faithers to our ignorance (you realise most of us also own/owned a GH2 and love it right?). No one cares, we are all pretty much grown up here and can make the decision for ourselves. I know ill enjoy the extra fidelity, my clients will appreciate the higher bit rate, in fact it will help me secure a few jobs that I miss out on especially now the Hyperdeck does prores. And dude, editman sold his for €2500 and brand new the AF101 is going between £2450-£3500 in the UK with a few crazy examples still over £4k so if it comes to it I'm sure I can sell mine for £1500-1900 if not more and with the money it's made me I am in profit, not a deficit as you keep lamenting hence why this is not a problem for most here.

With the jobs my crummy AF100 get me through per month the AF101A (with the sale of my AF101) will probably be one to two jobs pay extra for me period and as mentioned, will help me get a few higher priced jobs that are mainly looking for high bit rate, solid footage, I.e bbc. 10 bit or 4 times the colour information of an FS100 will actually be the sound bite that sways a few clients my way be that ignorance or not, they will be looked after and get a nice result, ill make my living as I have been.

If you are exclusively in 24p land, travel with a full set of Zeiss CP2s and have privy to renting these über cameras all the time I would expect Phillip blooms kind of approach with your opinion, that of someone who can see the pros and cons of all the cameras out there and would see the AF for the little work horse it is but you are so specifically against the AF100 (and desperate fir it to match the quality you are apparently accustomed to) that I'm betting you can only afford a GH2, don't work professionally and are disappointed that the AF100 being your only next step up purely because of its rep. You hate every camera that's in this range, FS100/700 and the Canon C series and are a fan of Red. Put the cash up and move to another system and get on with your education by mixing it up in there forums and producing work, stop hanging around in a forum thread for a camera you don't appreciate/like or can't make level headed negative remarks about.

Well said... I assume crummy was facetious ;) But this is an excellent point. One I tried to make earlier about the fact that, potentially, an AF100A with a Hyper shuttle could compete with and F3 as far as bare deliverables are concerned. That is considerably valuable.

Yep, those comparisons are key to the decision. We have a lot of speculation, both positive and negative on the potential of this upgrade. Hopefully we'll get something soon. It's oddly quiet from Panasonic, I think.

Its absolutely as usual quiet from Panasonic :)

Right! Does anyone out in the wild world of blogger and testers have one of these cameras, I wonder? Someone to do some early testing?

Sold my AF101 and got $3243 less than two months ago.

got 3100 euros last week, but with: rode ntg2, rode fur, 32gb sandisk 30mb/s, oly mmf1 adopter, polish fd adopter, manfrotto 521 pfi, af book, af dvd,

- i did not sell it over the ebay - as i am new to it and just have no idea how to avoid fraud there..... so i put it locally for sale and over the 3 months only " 1.5" people called, i am thinking got lucky,-

sold 25mm pany leica to the same guy for 520$ - was an easy sale - the word leica sells its self + after i shown him that he can control focus with manfrotto.... he took the money out right away!

so just have to sell my 4/3 sigma collection : 30mm f/1.4, 18-50mm f2.8 macro, sigma 70-200 f2.8 II macro, - oh and my old oly 14-54

and thats it - good bye pany, - thanks for being in my life!

...before the AF100A was even announced AF100 cameras were already going for $1,700-2,000 on Ebay and packages on this site selling for $2,500 seem to still be unsold.

You need to look harder then:

LOL, the examples you linked just demonstrated how off-base your original claim of "$1700-2000" was. All three of those AF100 links did indeed sell for $2500 or more. And the one you cited in an earlier post that sold for $2000? That was "For parts or not working".

Wow! Finally someone who has had the same benefit using external recorder with the AF100! My samurai yielded more detailed highlights and smoother more natural noise.

On a different forum I was told the codec had nothing to do with it: what I was seeing with my own eyes on ungraded footage comparisons must be due to some platform error (CS5.5) on my system.

Thanks for the edification. The footage from the Samurai (employing the dnxhd codec) yields a plain and visible improvement over the avchd footage.

Thats great to hear, the AF100A is going to extend that to 10 bit for you (if you decide to "upgrade"). Now that the shuttle has added prores to its codec you can now buy a fairly cheap 10 bit large sensor camcorder with enough change for the excellent DP4-EVF (with the hdmi pass through from the shuttle). Couple that with the 12-35 and 35-100 X lens for corporate and a PL mount (for narrative clients) i think we have a fairly solid system despite the web cam "sharpness" we are all putting up with ;0)

Good times for AF owners new and old if you ask me.

Ugh, enough with the bickering. :kali: :Drogar-KnockedOut(D

Someone - anyone - please tell me more FACTS about the AF100A! Jan?

This is what I was hoping for as well. But I suppose that Jan cannot say anything at this point, until the camcorder is officially announced in the USA.

We will just have to sit and be patient.
