I want a 4k cam with full-frame sensor, global shutter, AVC-Intra, and a 22mm-400mm F/1.0 zoom lens for $6000...is that asking too much? :2vrolijk_08:

you forgot that the lens aperture will be f/1.0 all the way zoom !!!
that is not that much, right?

its a sad story that CCD lose his battle in low end cameras, so I will get over it.

hope that new GH2 sensor will gonna bring some nice innovations, CMOS curse upon us!!!

Calm down Scotty boy!

The AF100 has a much larger sensor (4/3") than a 1/3" camera (HVX200), 1/2" camera (EX-3), and 2/3" camera (hpx500).

Thus, the lens adapter's primary goal of providing a shallower depth of field option to the user is taken care of, for the most part.

You'll get pretty good depth of field options on the AF100. A lens adapter, like the letus, would only soften the image, reduce sensitivity, and etc. I'd say, except under specific circumstances, it's rather useless.

New AG-AF100 series special site - now online!

Strange how this new information wesbsite doesn't really say anything, and will probably just muddy the waters more than they already are.

Bring on everyone who will complain that Panasonic has lost the plot.

Well, the site is in development and, for now, it works as a teaser only...
However, I don't think it will muddy the waters more than pure hypothesis & conjectures can do, I've learnt to be more patient... :badputer: :cheesy:

I like the teaser aspect, it's just that on these boards the speculation gets out of hand and people get worked into a lather about seemingly nothing.

Guess I need to stay away until Panny makes a full product release... I can't evaluate the camera until it arrives and there's footage etc to look at. Until then it's just marketing speak.

It mentions a dynamic range stretcher feature.

Does anyone have experience of this... is it any good, how many stops are we looking at (based on current models like the HPX170)

The 170, 150, 300 and 370 all offer DRS. It's one of those functions that can be pretty amazing, or not, depending on the circumstances. It works by taming the highlights and gaining up the shadows. But what's really crafty about it is that it doesn't do it globally to the whole picture, it only does it where it's needed -- so it's sort of like having an individual iris over every pixel almost.

The highlight preservation is quite good, but the shadow detail comes at the expense of added noise, just like any other kind of gain.

Also, there's a side effect that can happen when something very bright overlaps with something very dark; you can get a "ringing" or "shadowing" effect in those cases.

It's a dynamic function, so it's constantly working and adjusting. If you were trying to use it on a controlled-lighting set, it would be the wrong thing to do -- it would "fight" you so that it could maintain a constant contrast ratio.

But if you're in an uncontrollable (usually outdoors) situation and you've got blown-out skies and pitch-black shadows, the DRS can really do some serious improvement on that kind of picture.

I recommend everyone to treat it like they treat electronic gain: don't use it unless you need it, but if you need it, use it.

Thanks Barry, sounds great in the right situations.... maybe this is the technique the RED Epics will be using for their HDRx?

OK. Ive given this a lot of thought recently. Panasonic... would you like me to be a 100% purchaser? Easy give me 1080 - 50/60p.

I would like it to get as close to resolving 1080p as possible. I'm tired of manufacturers claiming 1080p and then delivering about 50% of the resolution.

If they don't resolves 75%+ of 1080p.... then I will wait for RED
