BT-LH80 monitor

Could anyone using this monitor with the HVX 200 give me any feedback on it?
I searched the forum, and other than when it first came out, (and not many had used it) I can't find any feedback on it. I want to use it for focusing - ("Focus in Red" , "Pixel to Pixel") -will it work as well as I hope?
Thanks.............Dave

The BT-LH80 rules the world. It's a great monitor. It's been discussed many times on this forum. I bought one a few months ago and have been delighted with it with the HVX200 and also used it a few times with the HPX500 and the Red One (got the SDI input module). Love it.

Barry,

I agree with you this BT-LH80 is the greatest... But what I think its unacceptable for that price is the lack of outputs! There are imputs only...

So how could you manage an additional set of outputs when you need some?

What if you need an additional CRT /LCD/Plasma monitor for your Client/Agency... which is usually a must? This BT-LH80 is for DP use basically.

On the other hand, when you output Component HD from the HVX you can not use the other video outputs (Composite, Y/C)... Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Any suggestions how you would fix that?

You comments will be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Henry Epstein.

Since the BT-LH80 monitor comes with an Anton Bauer 3-stud battery plate, it would only be expected that someone like Alex Dolgin would come up with some of his magic. Have been testing one of his V-Doubler prototypes for a few weeks and we love it!.

It basically converts the 3-stud to two of the HVX200 batteries. they are perfect for the BT-LH80. In fact, it ran the BT-LH1700 for almost two hours on two HVX200 batteries! It runs the 80 between 4 and 5 hours!

We'll be getting our shipment soon so if you want one, let me know and I'll hook you up.

I own and love one of these monitors as well.
My only complaint about it is the lack of a pass-thru - video outs would rock my world.
In every other aspect I couldn't be more happy.

Love the monitor. Lack of the pass through was the deal killer for me...gotta feed the client monitor (the panny 17"), so I went with the carrion....

I've tried using a passive splitter and there is a definite signal drop when using it. Everything just gets a hair darker. This was in the edit suite so we just picked up an active splitter and it works perfectly. Cant even tell its there.

I totally love my LH80, especially for follow focus with my SGPro.
It's a real step up from the Marshall, especially having pixel for pixel and waveform just a click away.

For splitting the signal I got one of these puppies:

which works a treat, but on a recent shoot we had the Panny 17", so I fed the camera to that, and then fed the LH80 off the 17". Perfect.

I too own a LH80 and love it. Aside from all the listed specs above I would like to add how durable it is. Few months ago my 1st AC got distracted and pulled the camera off the tripod while it was still connected to the monitor. The monitor flew 15 feet through the air and landed face down on asphalt. I picked it up, cleaned it up and kept shooting.

DOH! Of course I should have mentioned that but I forgot to -- if you're going to a client monitor that has pass-through, you can of course feed the client monitor first and then pass back up to the LH80. It means two cables instead of one, but... it works.

Sweet. Thank you!

We also have the BTLH1700w and a BTLH80 (which is on its way). Note that the BTLH80 is on extended backorder from most dealers right now. Up to six weeks.
