There's a lot more to it than just whether there's bandwidth to support writing it. I'd rather have P2 for the robustness, the editability, and the error detection/correction. But given a choice of AVC-Intra on SDXC, or no AVC-Intra on SDXC, by all means I'd take AVC-Intra on SDXC!Instead of P2, couldn't SDXC technically handle AVC-Intra?
It will help so incredibly more than the numbers would indicate. It will be devastatingly superior to the 17mbps of the GH1, and substantially superior to the 50mbps of the 7D. You can't compare raw numbers without knowing what those numbers mean, but I'd say that if you use 17mbps of the GH1 and 50mbps of the 7D, then the AF100's codec would perform more like 150mbps.And someone brought up a good point about the DSLRs not having B-frames. That should help a lot in the AF-100, and make the codec better than any of the DSLRs and not just the slight 24 mbit/s from 17 mbit/s improvement I was thinking of.
Not at all. P2 isn't a memory card, it's a microcomputer with a lot of memory attached, and the highest-quality zero-fault memory in existence, raided together to provide 1200mbps of bulletproof performance, which employs wear-leveling, data verification, and up to 24 streams of HD editing straight from the card.can sdxc handle the speed of 100 avcintra?
would kinda put p2 cards in bad light wouldnt it?

Preach it, brother. I'd infinitely rather have my AVC-I going to P2. I was just saying that if the decision is irrevocable that they're going to go with SDXC and not P2, then ... well, I still want my AVC-I!I don't know if I can get over buying project-critical recording media at WalMart. Let's see... kitty litter, milk, 20 SDXC cards for TV series...
So whats the $/GB for P2 these days? Market value, not MSRP.
Sandisk Extreme 32GB SDHC is about $6/GB.
Why not? Professional photographers have been staking their careers on compact flash cards for years.I don't know if I can get over buying project-critical recording media at WalMart. Let's see... kitty litter, milk, 20 SDXC cards for TV series...

AVC-Intra 100Mbps doesn't exactly represent the same bandwidth demand as even the highest bit single frame RAW format though?
Okay, how about everyone who uses the Nanoflash and records 100 or 160 Mbps video to compact flash? Or all Red users who record 200+ Mbps to compact flash? In fact, compact flash is the most reliable recording media for Red cameras!
Yes, you do pay more for Red's CF cards, but not near as much as for P2 cards. And the Nanoflash, will work with (some) CF cards from Walmart. Open standards are good for us consumers.
Panasonic will never go CF. They are the pioneers of SD so they are obviously sticking with their baby. Just like they will never use SxS.
Actually... aren't the new E series P2 cards built around CF chips instead of SD?
