AF 100 Color Clipping

I"d like to find out what people's experiences have been with color clipping on the AF. I was shooting last night at Webster hall in NYC at a Jayhawks concert. Some interview material and some performance coverage with the band, hand held doc style with a 75 mm prime in a rock n roll lighting situation with crazy mixed color temps and high contrast lighting.

It seemed to me that the blue -greens seemed to clip first and hardest with the camera and reds less so. On the way home I shot some tail lights & brake lights of cars in traffic to see how reds fared in over exposure, and I saw that the color clipping on the red side of the spectrum was far less offensive.

So does the camera clip hardest and worst in the blue green part of the spectrum?

Have you noticed particular colors clipping worse than others?

Last night I shot some B-roll of the belly dancers in rehearsal with only the available light and got a subtle and rather soft blue fringe around the overhead fixtures when shooting very low angle. It did not look at all objectionable to me, but was definitely there.

I was shooting with a Tamron 17-50 at f2.8.

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

And how does the clipping vary with the settings, especially the gamma? My experience from the HVX200 is that Cine-like gammas are more dangerous for colour clipping, so in relatively uncontrolled situations I tend to switch to other gamma settings. Be very interested to know how the AF100's behave in that respect.

Cheers, Hywel.

I've tried them all, it's pretty even across the board. Even with knee settings.

Yeah, the Cine gamma's are by far worse. But nothing that can't be fixed witha little highlight desaturation in post as well as a curve.

So my question is not about gammas its whether some colors are more vulnerable to clipping in an ugly than others. Last night it seemed green-blue was particularly susceptible to clipping.
