i'm considering using them in conjunction with schneider classic softs. does anyone have any experience with ultra-cons and the 7d? in conjunction with classic softs or not?

Basically ignore the classic soft thing. I just threw that in there in case using them together were a big no no. Overall does anyone feel they're worth it? i saw some 7d footage shot with ultra cons and it looked great which pushed me in that direction however not knowing the lighting conditions and the camera setting of the clip i don't know which of the 2 yielded the images i was seeing.

I use an ultracon 1 and 3 sometimes.

I'm a big fan of them.

They tend to milk things out quite a bit and are prone to inducing a milky flare if not well flagged (which again, I like SOMEtimes)

definitely try before you buy, and you might want a lower intensity like 1/2 if you can dig that up.

Ultra-con meaning ultra-contrast? Seems like a nice optical alternative to futzing with picture styles. I'm considering Classic Softs myself to help combat moire.

I like the ultra cons myself, but it is a different look than what many video people like usually.

Milky is a way to describe it. In situations where you would use it, the result is more film like, than without, which would look like bad video.
