A good friend phoned me and asked me hey bud ,would you like to get some footage of some very big cooling towers been demolished on 22Aug , I am helping the team do the setup and thought you may want front row seats and footage, I jumped at it as I will have better placement that the BBC Disc, Nat Geo......:grin:etc . So now you have the background as I have no idea of what camera settings with my 550D,so any advise would be greatful.

Off the top of my head, how I would probably shoot it...

Set WB to Manually
ND Filter/Matte Box - A must if in direct day light !
DOF - 5.6 or greater
Shutter - 100 or more
Love hour (most places noon - 2 pm) if not the sun to your back if that's the look you're wanting.
3 camera setup (long, mid, cu) - that's if you have 3 cams
MOST Important tripod :)

It will drop fast and make sure you bring something to cover yourself and the camera.

Good luck and be safe

if u have more than one cam then set one for 60p at a high shutter....so u can use that on a 24p timeline for slowmo in post (if ur shooting 24p that is)

Try to make sure that you are up wind, and still bring dust masks, and something to cover your camera and gear. That dust is some mighty toxic sh*t. If you are going to be even remotely near it, and get hit by the dust I would think about wearing some disposable overalls or jumpsuit, taped at the cuffs so you can take them off before you get into your vehicle to go home.
