ADVICE, my first Mac for FC6

Hello everybody,

I am considering to make a definitive move towards Mac and to do some editing of what I shoot with my HVX. I am studying this MacBook 13":

> 2 GB 667 DDR2 - 2x1 GB SO-DIMMs
> Serial Disc ATA of 120 GB (5.400 rpm)
> Processor Core 2 Duo Intel at 2,16 GHz
> Super Drive double layer
> AirPort Extreme Card and Bluetooth

and I have some questions that I would like to hear your opinions about.

1. Would I be fine with this Mac, editing in Final Cut 6 my MXF files, normally shot in 25/720 PN mode ?
2. What grafic card does this MacBook 13" have?
3. Would it be possible to use some PC programms in it ?

Thanks in advance for your advices.
Reagards all, from dani.

i had a mb13, it was great, using a mbp now, your renders will take a little longer, and forget using motion for 3d.

If your using the hvx, I would go with a macbook pro with the pci slot to dump P2 cards in. I have the black macbook and edit on it,its fine. I also do some after effects work on it sometimes. With a little tweaking of the settings, its not bad on speed but not that great because of the graphic card.

Thanks a lot Matt.
I was told that the grafic card is an INTEL GMA 950 with 64mb, would it be sufficient for 720/25PN projects up to maximum one hour.
I guess that I will be moving to something bigger when I get ready to use motion for 3D.
Many thanks.

I would buy a refurbished MacBook Pro rather than this item.

Other than a non discrete graphic card, it has no way to add a second FW bus, or attached an external SATA drive.

You can't use a duel adapter to ingest p2 cards, nor can you effectively use a FW capture with FCP, ScopeBox, HD Monitor.

Not a good idea at least in my view

Ditto. MacBook is a very very bad idea. MacBook Pro as or if you don't need a notebook, get a MacPro and outfit it properly with sufficient ram and internal media drives.
