Advantage of seperate lenses?

I am curious...I am probably going to buy the HVX, but have been looking at the HL1 and JVC HD-100 as well. My question is this - since we still have the problem of limited [or actually unlimited] Depth of Field, what is the point of having interchangable lenses? Is there something i.m missing?

you can have wide angle without adding on to the stock lens. Thought thHVX is pretty wide
or use a 35mm adapter with a Relay to go straight on the camera body Like Dan Diaconu makes or the Letus 35XL

i have another question regarding the xlh1 interchargeable lens. how can i mount photo still lenses onto the xl h1. there is an adapter available from canon for canon still lenses. (how) does it work with the xl h1 and how is the image quality?
