Now that you're all thinking about sex...

I was wondering about swearing. I know violence isn't a problem (I watched some of the zombie vids) but what about the occasional f-bomb? My piece really will suffer without the occasional carefully placed shoot and fork. Is there any official stipulation on this?

The official word is that it must fit within a standard MPAA R-Rated film. That's a little broad, but that's what BarryS has said in the past.

f**k f**k f**k f**k f**k f**k f**k f**k f**k f**k f**k f**k f**k f**k f**k f**k

That is all my sci fi film will be, but it will be an alien saying "f**k" for 6 solid minutes, so its still sci fi.

Its an art film.

well i got alot f bomb unintentally just how the actor played it so yeah. its still in R rating.

Just so you know...I had full backal nudity in my entry last time.

Got one vote.

Mine.

And that was only because we were allowed to change our votes. (I forgot I had an entry and voted for someone else at first. D'oh!)

Where is the line. Not that we are out to cross it.
I get the feeling that rated "R" can fly. Is "NC17" clear or is that too far?

It's a Sci-Fi contest. An R rating encompasses an awful lot. I have a hard time trying to figure out what could be put into it, requiring an NC17 rating, that could possibly make or break a 6 minute short.

Whenever I see "NC17", I can't help but think of the original Enterprise...which brings us right back to SciFi.
:)

A Star Trek parody I saw performed by a bunch of 15 year-olds a while back had this in it:

(Done in a very good Shatner voice)
Kirk (to Spock): Are you out of your Vulcan mind?!
