Adobe Onlocation:

Has anyone used this program before with the DVX?

It has several features and looks like a good way to get some time lapse from the DVX-100B, and save some time on the transfer.

Looking for any advice or problems that someone might have seen.

Thanks,

Michael

I use it all the time for non-run-and-gun stuff with my DVX
Having learned how to use the scopes, it's proven itself to be worth every penny, and netted me far better quality footage than using the camera on its own :)

My only gripe is the rack-type interface (which CS4 has fixed). You have to do a bit of juggling in order to get the components to take advantage of your screen size... but that's it though :)

Is there any difference, in terms of in camera features (24p etc), when recording to OnLocation vs DV tape? Is the direct real time output from the Firewire connection to the computer any different from what ends up on a DV tape? It may seem like a silly question but the reason I ask is because I have no idea what in in camera signal path is. I work with a lot of analog, digital and hybrid audio gear. Depending on where to tap into a device in that world, you may or may not bypass certain circuits.
Thanks. I am about as newbie as you can get but this seems like a great forum.
I also just got Barry's book and DVD, so I am studying diligently.

you know what would be amazing? if you could tap into the signal before the DV compression happens then output THAT through firewire and record to a hard drive :) i want that.
