Curious what others do when Transcoding their footage i mostly see it for folks who use MAC's to prores but i was curious to know if there is actually any benefits to transcoding my video to something else for Adobe Cs6.

I was also curious to know if anyone else maybe renames their files to .mpg or mp4 from MOV while editing. Thanks

The main reasons for transcoding are to improve performance or to fit a pre-existing post-production pipeline. If your editing system can handle the files straight from the camera without issue, then it may not be worth the additional time, storage, and management requirements of transcoding your footage.

Also, I'm not sure why you'd want to rename your MOV files, as it will make it far more likely that some apps will not be able to properly open the files as it thinks it's a different file type.
