Adapters

please guys tell me what is the benefit of having this adaptor beside changing to different lenses...I wanna get one too but not sure of the benefit of it

I still have not got my GH1. Currently on waiting list and will get it later this summer. But I do have all other goodies :)

Yesterday I got a Nikon E-2 which allows aperture control even on G-lenses or as in my case the Sigmas. And the m4/3->Nikon adapter arrived a month ago. It will be interesting to try the whole rig with adapters and follow focus.

I think the Novoflex has aperture control and is a complete solution instead of my separate adapters.

im not sure what your asking...
which adapter are you refering to? and the whole point of having
these adapters is being able to use alternate lenses. when you
say "besides changing to different lenses" you mean?...

There seems to be a lot of "i think" the novoflex adapter has aperture control... can anyone confirm this for sure? i have some Nikon DX lenses i would love to use...

Also, has anyone in the states ordered the adapter? If so, from where?

As for the ciecio7... does anyone have a link? I can't seem to find much on it...

thanks
cody

At least of the guys here have it, and have said it does have aperture control. Kinda makes me want to order one, but the price is a bit steep, and other than my 11-16 I have no desire to use the few G-type lenses in my collection on the GH1.

FD adapter too tight...help !!!

FD adapter too tight...help !!!

GH1 is in the house as of this morning (special order finally arrived) - so even though I ordered from Ciecio7 2 months ago I am only now assembling my lenses.

I got three FD primes - and I got the Ciecio7 adapter ages ago from ebay.

As per an earlier posting my red dot (on the camera side) looked in danger of scraping off so I scraped it off myself (I left that little bit that's indented ;))...

That side is not the problem though - the problem is the camera side. It's way too tight.

On one of my lenses (the 50mm) I can just about get it on with a significant amount of torque (it feels unpleasant like I'm gonna break the lens apart)...
At this point the aperture ring turns...

On the other two lenses (28mm and 135mm) I cannot get the adapter on at all - the locking ring starts to turn - then stops. It hasn't completely turned - I know this because turning the aperture ring on the lens does nothing...

Anyone got any ideas - I just wrote to Ciecio7 on ebay - so let's see if he replies...

Hi Nick, glad you got your camera.

I have the ceico7 FD adapter as well and have successfully used it with 7 maybe 8 different lenses ranging in brands from Canon, Tokina, Vivitar and Cosina, zooms and primes. It can be tricky and each lens mounted slightly differently as I have learned there are many different types of locks within the 'FD' realm. Whatever you do, don't force anything.

I found it is good to make sure the aperture ring is not on A as this may affect the lock. If you are holding the cam in your left hand and the lens in your right then start turning the top of the lens toward you until it clicks in place, then turn the top of the lens away so the two are connected, then turn the locking ring to hold it. On the first turn you may have to repeat this with the locking ring at different positions. Some of the old lenses I tried were really tricky an it took me a while to get a feel for how they mount, others were easy and I got them right away.

Are there any adapters for the GH1 for Canon EOS and Nikon G lenses that will enable aperture changes to be made?

Thanks!

Hi, my CANON FD to M4/3 adapter from RJ has aperture control, if that's what anyone asked.

BUT! there's no mark or anything, it just more the aperture up or down, without stops.

just to clarify

just to clarify

ceico7 is sending me another adapter free of charge (to see if that makes a difference) - of course I will have to return whichever one I don't keep.

good guy though.

all these adapters add aperture control - you just have to be careful as to how you put them on.

clearly the little bold that sticks out inside the adapter has to push the aperture release spring as you tighten it on - but unless you are careful you will miss it - that's what this turn one way/turn the other way stuff is all about...

just look at the lens as you are attaching it and make sure the pin is "behind" the aperture release pin and depressing it as you lock the lens on...

note that to do this - the FD adapter must be OFF the camera - i.e. I would do this before you put the lens onto the camera

Gotta plug Hot Rod Cameras with Illya's PL mount for the GH1. It let's you put some serious pieces of glass on your GH1... or I should say, let's you put the GH1 onto the lens! (the thing's f**king tiny!)

Anyway, the other day, Kevin Zanit (DP) and I checked out this demo at Birns and Sawyer in Hollywood where they showed a short that used footage shot on the Red One, the 5D, and the GH1 (with the PL mount). And though it was a Canon event, everyone was talking about the Panasonic. The GH1 blew the other cameras out of the water no question about it. While Kevin isn't a fan of the Red, he was still shocked to discover how much BETTER he thought the GH1 looked. Canon's 5D just looks like garbage.... why 30p?

Check it out... Hot Rod Cameras

Just going back to the first post in this topic a min... does the Nikon AF confirm to 4/3rds adapter from Hong Kong on eBay give you the green dot on the GH1's LCD when the image is focussed? I know AF isn't possible, but the AF confirm means that if you manually focus the lens, the chip in the adapter lets the camera know what the focus situation is right? So the camera can help you spot good focus with it's green dot and beep? Even via the Four Thirds to Micro 4/3rds adapter?

I have a question. I have 2 lens each from Pentax, Canon FD, and Nikon. So instead of buying from ciecio7 or jinfinanace for 3 straight m3/4 to whatever i was thinking i buy a m3/4 to 3/4, and then 3 adapters from there. Will i have a problem with infinite focus? Any good recs/reviews of anybody doing this?

Seems to be the same. I'm not sure if both the Olympus and Panasonic 4/3 to m4/3 adapters will accept the signal from these adapters properly. I might just buy a set to find out...

Next up: Combining the AF chip together with the aperture plunger!
