Adapters, adapters...

I have not used them. My general sentiment is you get what you pay for. I bought the MTF and it wasn't good (and an item close to $500). Bought Optitek ($1000) and it is rock solid.

I've thought that if I had to do it all over again I would forgo the Sony primes in the kit and spend the money on the Opitek Prolock (which I also have) and get Nikon Mount Primes (like the new Rokinons)

Although I really like the Sony primes and use them 90% of the time, it would be nice to just leave the prolock in place and swap out MUCH cheaper lenses (both prime and zoom)

Has anyone used these adapters?:

Just wondered how solid they were and if there was any play in them?

Cheers,

I did order Contax adapter for my Zeiss lenses with Contax mount. I got one and use it all the time on F3 with no issues... Proper fit and nice finish. Locks lenses better than any Contax/EOS adapters I have/had. Why pay big $$ for "new" Zeiss, when you can use "old" Zeiss for a fraction of the price. My Distagon 21mm/2.8 (Contax mount) is the best wide angle lens I ever used for stills...

Not to abuse or de-reail the thread, but I'm selling my MTF on the classifieds reasonably. (will take offers).
Going to AllStar mounts for all my cameras!
Thanks.

Just reporting back in.
Finally, I got the two adapters (Contax/Zeiss and Canon EF). They are great and very solid. No movement that I could find with the lenses.
I think all in all they are a good deal. The same vendor (his name is Art by the way - lives in Poland) also sells a mount with 5 adapters for Nikon, Olympus, etc. for $400.

It's a good deal all the way around. He communicated easily (perfect English - probably has spent some time in the US) and was willing to keep the declared value low so that there were no excessive customs fees. Received in 3 days through express package at a very reasonable $32 as well.

Solid.

Thanks for the "heads up" on these adapters. I have a number of very nice pieces of Leica R glass and I contacted the Ebay selling yesterday evening. Very quick response from "Art" and there's a Leica R to F3 mount adapter now on it's way to me. I'll post again after I have a chance to check it out. It's going to be nice to be able to use some of those f1.4 R optics!

Well, I did buy the Leica R to F3 adapter, and I have to say that I'm really happy with it. Solidly made, well finished, no play and it's great to be able to use my Leica R f1.4 glass on the F3.
I received the adapter three days after ordering, and for what it's worth "Art" was a pleasure to deal with.
