Action Test with GH1

I can't tell if it's the web quality or the mud from 1080p. If you've got mud, I'd start shooting at 720p and converting to 24p.

I think its a combination of the web quality when I downsize it and my friend running backwards with my camera! LOL

man, Vimeo can be a bastard, right?

...but it's perpetual, and Vimeo can't be blamed. it's a great site. some people have gone so far as to compose their shots purely based on what they expect from the compression, artifacts and conversions Vimeo does, in order for their video to look like it is RAW, and based on their own hardware/software limitations. many have succeeded, and have sold me cameras (theoretically)...i've seen the most flawless stuff on Vimeo that users swear that was edited on WinXP Home/Moviemaker....depends what your target format is. there is always a way to disguise limitations within given enviornments. i'm noticing that more than ever now. But content is king, and i'm actually in the market for a GH1, but it would involve selling my Canon XH-A1, so in this conundrum i lay....do i trust online footage?...maybe. it's likely to be my target audience.

I can tell you from my experience, Im very happy with the GH1 as a "2ND ANGLE ONLY".
I work for some of the top online magazines and film interviews and panels with A list movie stars, musicians and directors, writers and producers, here in Los Angeles.
I would not recomend as main camera until you have a fail safe audio to accompany it. Your canon has xlr inputs which are so important.
If you can then I say try to keep it (Canon) or do a music video or corporate job for cheap to make enough to pay for the GH1. Both those cameras together and you will have a great package.
Now as for my footage on here by no means is this clip an example of my work with this camera or how good it is. We were just having fun on the first day I had it and the clip due to its nature is meant to be shaky and "Raw" looking. I also messed with multiple filters in FCP just to give it a look so dont make a judgement off my clip.
There are plenty of graphically unaffected clips and clean motion for you to view, that are shot with the GH1. The most important thing FOR YOU, to decide is what YOU really need your camera for. Interviews, commercials, music videos or short films?
FOR ME it really works great as a second B-ROLL camera with my HVX-200.
The more you use a camera like the GH1 in a professional setting where your paycheck comes from it the more you will find out any limitations or what its best for. Each persons situation is different due to what your clients want. I happen to run my video department so I kinda am able to shoot how I want and what cameras I want to use.
I hope that long answer helps.
