ACT II - reshoot

Well editing in the airport didn't work. So now I gotta unpack my gear and settle in for a week of serious editing here. Hope to knock this out and send it for color correction by tomorrow maybe?

almost there... gotta tighten the edit and make it more emotional all around. it's got some good point right now, but I want to make sure I'm keeping the pace and getting all of those notes in...

First cut is done and sending out the audio for ADR work now. Gonna do foley and sound design while that's being taken care of and shoot this edit off to this composer dude I met here in Toronto.

It's coming together well.

Considered doing a trailer for it, but it's 8 minutes long... maybe I'll do one anyway, just to keep my hand in...

wait... you're from toronto?? I used to live there and have family up there.

You ever need help on another production during the winter or summer months, just give me a PM ;)

Well I'm not FROM here... just living here for a year with my wife and commuting back to the states for work/shoots. 1 week out of every month I'm back in Atlanta (or New York or where ever there's work), so I spend most of my editing time in Toronto.

Which makes doing ADR difficult on shoot from Atlanta.. especially if the schedule slips, like it did on the shoot for Act II.

We're actually gearing up to shoot a short for Twilightfest here in the next couple of weeks. Tentative scheduel is the end of August. Will you be in town around that time?

So about to sign on a composer. I met him last week and he's actually aroudn the corner from me so that was definitely a good connection. Good guy too and he's got lots of great ideas and enthusiasm. So that's pretty exciting.

Sending off the locked edit to good old Solomon for color correction. There's also a hold on the ADR session since Alexis is completely booked this week and we missed the window of opportunity to record her. Wish I'd just stuck her into the soundbooth back at the office and gotten a blind reading of her lines, but that's just frustration talking. It wouldn't have been perfect and for this film we're demanding certain levels of perfection.

Oh well. Sunday is the next day she's available, so we'll just have to delay the release another week. Since the color correction will be coing back around the same time, we were going to have to wait anyway so that's kind of a moot point.

Oh well. Progress is being made.

Now I gotta go back to work on "Blood and Coffee". Got some script probelems that I'm trying to fix there...

It's a pretty good cut and Alexis did a phenomenal job. Solomon's lighting was absolutely superb and I really can't wait to see what he does with the color correction.

Yeah, I'm glad you're coming back to this. I thought the lead actress was really compelling. Would like to see some more of her too.

Oh you'll see more of her. She's compelled me to work on another movie and so far she's taking the lead on producing it. She's seriously got the acting bug.

Okay, we've got the foley locked down and now trying to get the score completed. Distractions aside now and on to finally finishing this puppy.
