Levelers

Levelers

Nice levelers. I had some levelers that came off of some office cubical walls that were torn down a few years ago. Between that and the apple boxes I think I have it covered. One thing I learned is that the flatness of the surface really matters when shooting CUs. I tried a hollow core door and it was like riding waves... impossible to shoot.

I then laid a piece of MDF on the door and that was very nice but too heavy to carry around. If anyone has any ideas for very flat lightweight materials for table tops I would love to hear them.

The CAD drawings are posted on page 2 of this thread. Also on the HBS forum site if you are a member there.

Can anyone point me to a good site on researching patent info. I would really like to know if manufacturing these would violate any real patents. I assumed that it would but I may be able to make improvements to get around that and sell them for far less than the current maker is selling them for.

Of course the drawings will remain available for anyone wishing to make their own. Thanks for all the encouragement.

Hate to be a killjoy, but how do you post pics on this site? I made a skater Months ago, but can't post pics of it.
When I ask, I'm told to use a Hosting Site. BUT how do other people post Pics on this site????????????????

Hi sil, i've done mine( same design as the p&s one) and i've finished it today, it 's not so simple as we see the plans.
To keep at all time the center of the wheel at the same place along the process.
Another thing, the cam need to be in the same O degrees direction of the skater.
It means that if you have a dvx100, the center of the lens in offset with the center of the attaching plate, don't forget it.The cam need to be placed approximatly 8mm right of the mark REF. I probally will by a fluid head that can be adjusted left or right when i'm using différent cam's.
To see if all is good placed (whells, marks, degrees templates, cam), just film a rotation around a screw or something thin, doing so, the screw do not move left or right on the screen.
I'll put some pictures and video when all will be ok.

new ideas

i made up a new design, with wheelmounts which are easier to build with even less parts. i tried to get rid of those round base plates for the wheels.

size of the wheels in the example is 100mm. big wheels will produce less bumps/vibration.

what do you think about the concept? i still have to figure out if the wheelmount is rigid enough. another problem could be the center of weight (center of gravity ? how is it called, i'm not English..) when the wheels are at certain angles.. then i would shift the cam more towards the center to stay stable.
