Achieving Full Manual focus?!

HPX170. When i switch focus to manual it still seems to auto focus. When focusing from a distant object to a closer one, after i focus on the closer one it switches out of focus then back again without even pushing anything. It messes up my shots and i just want a smooth manual focus from one object to another. Can someone please help?

Is this a new cam, a new user, or a new occurrence? Each might be important, so tell us more.

Are you sure your viewfinder says MFxx on the right side, which would indicate you are in manual focus. AFxx would indicate auto focus. Any chance the cam operation is set to auto, that could override the manual focus setting unless you have changed the defaults in the menu system.

4. AUTO SW Menu Group

AF:

ON = Auto focusing is operational in Auto Mode. In this mode, the FOCUS switch and PUSH AUTO button are not operational.

OFF = Auto focusing is not operational in Auto Mode. In this mode, the FOCUS switch and PUSH AUTO button are available to assist with setting focus.

thank you for your time guys, sorry for disappearing, i havent been able to test it out until the weekend. i went into the Auto SW menu and switched off AF which seemed to do what i was looking for. Now in MF mode it doesnt auto correct. Thank you for everything!

yes but then when i want to focus between two things i switch it to MF. the problem i was having that MF still autocorrected because AF was turned on in the menu.

Yea, I suspected that was the case in my first post. It may take you some time, but unless you need it for instant shooting, auto operation is not where you want to go as a film maker. It can produce good images, but when white balance and exposure change in the middle of a clip, that is bad.
