Well to my supprize, my school is considering sending 2 others and myself to Vegas for NAB this year. :) :) :cheesy:

I'm dooing a bit of research to see if the trip is possible, and I'm looking for places to stay.

Does anyone have any recomendations on good (cheap) places to stay in vegas? Rough numbers would be handy too... (I have no idea what is a good price in vegas) :undecided

Thanks in advance!

I'm sure you can still find a place to stay but the choices are going to be limited and more so the closer it gets to NAB. I don't think Vegas sells out for NAB but it is very difficult to get flights, hotels and rental cars for the first three days of the show.

When I attended I had 22 employees that I generally put up at Circus Circus. Also don't be penny wise and pound foolish - don't chose a hotel that is not on the NAB bus route becuase its cheaper, waiting in hour+ long lines and the taxi fare will kill you.

Good luck, let us know if your attending and maybe we'll see you there.

I went last year and stayed at circus circus.. horrible.

Try and get into the Hilton where the conference is if possible. It may be more expensive but you'll make up for the headache of having to figure out transportation to your hotel room and back (most helpful if you would like to look presentable and might need to change in your hotel room for certain meet-and-greets.)

This year is supposed to be big stuff because its their 60th (or something like that) anniversary.

Sure Circus Circus isn't the best but as far as cheap and easy its certainly that and you might still be able to get a reservation. I doubt that you can still get a room at the Hilton, even for four to six times the price...

The monorail is a blessing (though I understand it doesn't always run) -- staying at any hotel along the line will be easy access to the Convention Center.

NAB Attendee's (if your a member of the NAB or RTNDA) get a specific rate of somewhere between $114 - $150 a night. Its worth giving it a shot.

If it's your first time to Vegas, it may be more fun to stay somewhere on the strip and just take the bus to/from the convention center. The night life on the strip is more lively than around the convention center.

Okay, I just checked Expedia. Most of the hotels on the strip have jacked up their prices, but you can still get some below $150 a night. If you go downtown or off the strip, you can get a room for well under $100. I think they have shuttle buses there, too.

Barry Green's house is probably the best bet, though. I hear he's a real partay animal.

Hey guys, thanks for the advice!

Based on your coments, and after a bit of reserch on the NAB site and with google Earth (how neat is that for getting to know a place before you go?? ) I've found a decent deal at Circus Circus - Can get a 3 person room (depending if the others want to share) for $111/night.

David and others who said CC wasn't so good... anything specific, or notably bad why to go elsewhere?

Chuck, I basicaly live by the penny pound thing.

So when's the party at Barry's?

The Mirage is a nice compromise in location between the Hilton and the "center" of the strip... and it has a nice pool if that matters to you...

If there ARE set rates for NAB members, then the Venetian is hard to beat. That place is awesome, with even the smallest rooms at 750+ sqft ... large enough you could easily share it with 3+ more people, helping break the costs way down.

Mikko, Circus Circus is just a grubby place. If you tend to drink yourself to sleep you should be OK, but if you like good bedding and such it's not that great. If you're fine with cheap and that's all that matters it's good enough. They do have a live trapeeze show, so that's fun.

I know this sounds like I'm being an ass, but I value my sleep and comfort....which makes me wonder why I even bother with filmmaking. :)

I have stayed at the THE FLAMINGO twice before and have been more than satisified.

I recently stayed at NYNY and was not impressed with the prices or the service.

I end up spending most of my time in Vegas at Olympic Gardens. There is a great taco place down the street.
