C300: Accessory shoe threads stripped - any ideas?

Been shooting on this C300 for almost 3 years now. It's a tank. Never done any maintenance or firmware updates. Only thing I've replaced so far is the grip. But now the threads of the accessory shoe are stripped and the handle cannot lock in. Personally, I love the top handle and always use it. But with these threads stripped, there's no way to lock it in.

I was hoping that I could just remove the 4 screws and it would come out with the shoe but no such luck. Do I now have to send it in to get this fixed? I dread the thought.

Man, I don't even trust Canon with my baby. I don't want them fiddling with the firmware. I prefer the original!

So I just called support. I was surprised that they allowed me to order this part and self install. He said we to not provide instructions but told me about the 4 screws I would have to remove to open up the top of the camera and warned me not to strip the heads. So it looks like I'll be opening her up in 7-10 days!

FYI it's part # DB1-3023-000 and price is $21.98. Strangely the part description is "Base, Tripod". Obviously I called to confirm they're sending me the correct part for the top of the camera and he confirmed and said that's what they decided to call it.

Very cool! You should update the firmware. The color science is much improved especially with C Log. The green cast is all gone.

I've heard that. And I only shoot c-log. But I'm very happy with the color. Not seeing any green cast unless I'm shooting under household/office fluorescent light. Is this somehow compensated for with the new firmware?

I found the color to be much better. YMMV. I always had a greenish tint in C Log. It's all gone with updated firmware.
