AC160 AC160 Motorcross Video

Great!! The AF held focus perfectly!! At wedding I also find the AF to work well...the only issue is if you have a static cam position and a more or less static subject ...it will focus perfectly but after a few minutes it will "assume" it's not doing it's job and hunt around for another object to lock onto...on static scenes it's well worth while to just switch over to manual and that solves the issue.

First, nice video - the music matched the action nicely.

For the most part, the auto focus did, indeed work nicely. Of course, this video had a couple of things going for it - 720 60p (I read somewhere that auto focus works best in 720 60p & 1080 60i) and iris shut down (notice the background images are nearly as sharp as the foreground). I'd like to see a similar video shot indoors or a dark day where the iris must remain open.

That said, what troubles me is that the focus remains fine, then goes out-of-whack (at technical term) for no apparent reason:

Hey Jerry

I found that the iris doesn't matter either...I was shooting a wedding in bright sunlight and the focus just also went out of wack!! However keep the camera "interested" by moving and changing subjects and the AF does a perfect job...it just doesn't like having to focus on a static subject!!! Put the cam on a tripod ....place a vase on a table say 15' away and watch what the auto focus does!!! Sure it will lock onto the vase, then it will try the wall behind and so on. The really bad issue is having a subject (like the vase) and allow AF to lock onto it and then remove it but have something (like a couch or wall behind it) and you will find it totally loses the plot and the entire picture is just one big blur!!!
