AC130: AC130 not available in Canada?

Hi, I'm a XH-A1 owner looking to make the switch to a solid state system, and I'm leaning towards the AC130. However, I can't actually seem to find any vendors in Canada (specifically Toronto) that carry the AC130.

I do some more digging and it seems like the Panasonic.ca catalog lists the AC160 (amongst other things) but not the 130.

Is this model simply not available in my country? If so, why is that?

I went through the same process. The 130 is NOT available in Canada. I went ahead and bought the 160. It's probably worth it for the over/under cranking feature alone. As for NTSC/PAL, I have relatives in Australia but don't see myself lugging all of the equipment over there when I visit. I did that once when I had a DLSR - took 35 rolls of film over 5 weeks (all off tripod, sometimes with 1/2 hour time delays per shot to get the "right" shot), my hosts were not amused.

I know in Australia Panasonic Aust. completely OVER estimated the demand for the 160 and UNDER estimated the demand for the 130, so after the initial shipments of the 130 ran out they were reluctant to buy more until they moved more of their 160's (which they would accept discounts to do), which is why we ended up with one of each instead of two 130's.

Maybe they are doing the same thing in Canada.

Cheers,

Vaughan

I did some digging on this topic about a month ago and discovered that Panasonic Canada is not importing the AC130 at all. Your only choice is to buy it from the US, but then you have no warranty.

Likewise the even more affordable AC120EN is not available anywhere in North America or Europe. Yet it can be purchased in places like Australia, Singapore, China, and India.
