ALL: AC130 Lens Not Parfocal?

My AC130 just arrived and I haven't had much time to test it yet but I have noticed that when going through the zoom range from about 84-98 the lens pops very noticeably to backfocus and then pops back into sharp focus at 98-99. Has anybody else noticed this or is it just my copy? I assume the AC130 and AC160 lens would act the same.

After further testing this only happens near the minimum focus from MF47 and lower. It's weird because from Z84-98 as you turn the zoom ring it actually starts changing the focus numbers by itself and then returns it to the original setting after Z98. Focus is set to manual and focus assist is off. Anyway, it's not a deal breaker since it only affects up close shooting near the end of the telephoto range but I would still like to know if this is only happening with my camera. Anyone?

Steve Cooperman addressed this regarding the HPX250, which uses the same lens. When you're in the minimum focus distance range, the camera does engage macro mode. If you focus out a little further you can get from Z00-Z99 without that little jump.

Thanks Barry, I didn't think to check the HPX250. It is a great zoom range especially coming from a HMC150. You can focus as close as .79 meters at full tele.
