Hi, I'm Álvaro from Spain,

I will buy Ac130 soon, and I need some help to choose a sdhc card 32gb class10.

What it's recommended? I've saw enough differents transcend, sandisk, lexar.
If it's possible i need some good quality and cheap. :undecided

Thx, and sorry my english.

Panasonic avccam cards are great, and sandisk extreme pro. Those are both made with additional error correction circuitry versus cheaper cards.

How much 1080 60i footage can you fit on a 32 gb card? Im thinking about getting rid of my HVX200 and the expensive p2 workflow.

yeah same here, i just need to sell my hpx, so i can get ac130.
have better record times, cheaper media ect

Man that's pretty awesome. Thanks Barry. Do you think going from the original HVX200 to the 160 is a good upgrade for the money?

The 160's video quality is dramatically better than the original HVX's. Sharper, cleaner, crisper. More variable frame rates, more zoom, more sensitivity, more features, cheaper recording media, SDI output, timecode sync'ing, there are lots and lots of reasons why an upgrade might make sense.

The HVX has the tape drive, plus it can stream HD out the firewire port; if you use those two features then an upgrade wouldn't make sense.

Thx Barry Green,

By now I prefer buy one good card: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/757925-REG/SanDisk_SDSDRX3_032G_A21_Extreme_SDHC_Class_10.html I will use almost all the time, and when i will film more than 3 hours I'm going to use that: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/712659-REG/Transcend_TS32GSDHC10_32GB_SDHC_Card.html

¿What's your opinion?

And there is a manual o guide for the Ag-ac130 or ag-160? I saw another day that you had made guides or tutorial of others cams.
That SanDisk card looks good. I am not a fan of the Transcend cards. And before the Transcend mafia descends upon me to rip me apart, all I said was *I* don't like 'em. I've had one fail on me. Whether you like them or not is your opinion and your matter, but I don't use 'em, okay? :)

As for the question on the manual: the camcorder's manual is available as a free download, and yes I just released a full book on the AC160 & AC130, which is now available on Amazon. And for those who buy a camcorder from the USA, there's a mail-in redemption coupon in the box for a free copy.

Ok great thanks. I wouldn't be able to record directly to my MacBook Pro then via firewire with Adobe OnLocation?

I use it now when I have to do event recording. I guess with longer record times and cheaper cards I might not need that anyways?

Thx Barry,

Definitely I will buy Sandisk.

And Are they some way to get a coupon when I will buy my AC130 in spain? By now, it's impossible to spend more money, and I'm very interested to get the book. But the money is the money, and spend 80 € more it's impossible. :undecided

Congratulations for the book, it seems a good guide to learn all the features of the camcorder.

Thx for the help¡¡¡ :cheesy:

Yeah, transferring a 16GB SDHC card with an hour+ of footage takes all of maybe 10 minutes. The Panasonic UHS-I cards are even faster with the USB 3.0 card reader. So with that in mind, you really aren't saving much time going directly through OnLocation. There are other reasons to USE OnLocation, but if you're simply using it as a means to ingest DV footage faster than rolling off tapes, you're better off recording to the SDHC cards and gaining the quality the AC cameras give you over the HVX200.

I tend to agree. The Transcend cards only save you a couple dozen bucks per card (maybe) over the SanDisk cards, and while most people never have problems with the Transcends, people who use their cards more often (daily use) will eventually find that the Transcends have a shorter life span and lower reliability. I personally prefer the Panasonic UHS-I cards. They do come at a premium but it really doesn't matter to me. I used to spend $1,000's of dollars every year on tape stock. With about $500 investment, I've got high-end guaranteed error-proof cards that are beaten out only by P2 in terms of reliability, and these cards last for years. In two years time, I'm still going to have a couple thousand dollar savings versus what I used to pay in tape stock, so for me, I really don't mind paying double the price for a one-time purchase.

The Panasonic cards really are better in so many ways. Put a Transcend card in one hand and a Panasonic card in the other and you will even feel that there is a physical difference to the way they are constructed.

I do own a few Transcend cards, I use them with the GoPro or if I'm recording something that's not necessarily crucial "I must have this shot or I lose money" type stuff. So I'm not trying to start (another) SDHC card battle here. Transcends are a good value and will probably work for most people (especially in cameras that have redundant recording, although now you're using twice as many cards). For me - and Barry, and others - we have decided we are willing to pay the premium for another product that *we* feel works better for us.
