AC90: AC-90 pixel edges or delacing??? No footage useful

OK, first off, you should not just copy the individual clip files from your SDHC card over to your hard drive. Instead, you should grab the PRIVATE folder from the card's root directory, and then drag that over to a new folder on your hard drive. Doing that will not only automatically copy over all of the clips on the card, but it will also include all of the AVCHD Metadata files along with them. Then do your import of the footage from the hard drive into your NLE.

Everything from that point on involves configuring the options on your NLE software correctly, and following the proper steps that your software requires in order to import AVCHD footage.

Cyberlink's website says that Power Director 11 fully supports 1080/60p AVCHD 2.0 files. So I don't think that you have a compatibility problem with your NLE software.

If you visit the tech support forum on Cyberlink's website and post some messages there, you may very well find that their support staff is very familiar with this issue, and will know exactly what to advise you to do in order to correct this.

If you want to experiment using the Adobe Premiere Pro 6.0 trialware, the proper procedure for importing AVCHD in it is to use the MEDIA BROWSER, and navigate to the folder where you stored the files from your SDHC card. Then double click and open the PRIVATE folder. At point, any videos you recorded will pop up and be displayed. Just right click on any video that you wish to import, and choose the IMPORT option to then bring it into Premiere pro 6. Once imported, you can then either drag it into the Source Monitor, or right onto the Timeline, depending on what you want to do.

Lance, thanks for the input. I didn't explain myself correctly, but I am using the Private folder and sending the files to my external hard drive. Thanks for looking up PowerDirector. I have a post there, but no solutions yet. I have been working on just trying every setting and combination I can think of. I have found some solutions. If I convert a 1080 file to AVC I no longer have the Alasing and I get good quality. Now if I use an AVC file and a burning program and burn it to a BluRay will it be HD? Also I have been looking at Sony Vegas as another editing software. What is anyone's thought. Or what should I use for editing the AC-90? Thanks Everyone.

Hi again jimith, Edius is my edit weapon of choice, it is incredibly versatile and has an amazingly active forum. In fact I would suggest signing up to the forum and then post your problem there as well. I bet they will also be able to give you some advice. They have a section for non edius posts.
best of luck.

Dosent matter the captured file type, if it was shot in HD then yes it will be HD on a Blueray.

Editing software, myself I use a Mac so I use Final Cut and Adobe. Final Cut is only Mac based and Adobe is Mac & Windows. From what you explained you are doing Edius sounds like it might fit you well.

One more thing to consider, don't just buy a piece of software till you try it out. Make sure it will do what you need it to. Many of us here use special video output cards on SD and HD monitors to correctly view our final work (interlaced and non interlaced) before we output to DVD, Web or Blue-ray. So try out some different software using small clips and see what works for you in your price range.

Are you posting in the Cyberlink Community Forums in the PowerDirector 11 forum under the name AleksF92?? That post is the exact identical problem that you are reporting, so I was wondering if that was indeed you.

If it is you, I see a most obvious problem in that the Deluxe edition of PowerDirector 11 that you have is only 32 bit, and not 64 bit. Since you are using a 64 bit operating system, you really should be using a 64 bit application to get the maximum performance. Otherwise you are handicapping your work. You would thus need to upgrade to one of the more expensive versions of PowerDirector 11, like the Ultra or Ultimate versions, in order to get 64 bit support. Companies like Sony and Adobe don't even make 32 bit video editing software anymore. Their products are now 64 bit only.

Now if that is not you posting in that thread, then you might still want to monitor that thread, as it appears that he has the very same issue that you do.

Thanks for look out for me. No that is not my post. I purchased the PowerDirector Utimate Suite. If I take the file from the camera and save it in the same format ( Progressive or Interlace) as a AVC file and highest Mbps I really don't get the alasing look now. Now I just need to burn to a BluRay and see what it looks like. What program do you use to burn to BluRay?

Just looking at the specs for your software I am guessing you have activated these?

Internet connection is required for activating some import/export formats, including AVCHD, Blu-ray Disc, DVD, H.264, & MPEG-2

Everything is activated, I'm looking to get Sony Vegas. It will put me back a few dollars, but mostly push my projects back until I learn the software.
Thanks
jim
