absolutely last question. BLACK LEVELS

I posted this on the FCP forum but no one posts there at all.

I exported some footage from my HVX200 from final cut and burned it to dvd using toast. And it looks like the black levels have been set high, completely crushed compared to what i see on my brodcast monitor and computer screen. I know it must be the settings i have it under.

What is the proper settings because i thought i chose the right one. 720 24P which is what i set it to. Is there something i am missing. Am I viewing it on a sd tv so is this where downrezzing comes in?

promise people this will be my last post. i am still dealing with the video noise issue. because what i am getting is an absurd amount of noise. the image looks so dirty, not something that should be accepted from a HD camera

What you are missing is using Toast as an encoding engine.

It has virtually no controls and hardly constitutes a professional approach for creating DVDs with a $6000.00 cam.

Our SD DVDs encoded with BitVice and authored in DVD SP look nearly identical to the original 720/24pn footage using a HDMI DVD player output to a HD LCD TV.

Could be the DVD player. Is it set to output the blacks at 7.5 IRE or 0? Check the player menu. They may no call it "normal" and "cinema mode" or whatever. Reason I bring this up is I bought a DVD player today (and immediately returned it) because it output the signal at a fixed 0 IRE (not adjustable) which made the blacks appear quite crushed on my properly calibrated broadcast monitor.
