ABC's V

Yeah, the original was fun and I have a lot of nostalgia for it, but I could see someone doing a better version of the same material. What I've seen looks promising.

Ironically, I re-watched the original mimi-series not too long ago,. I wanted my wife and kids to see it. I saw the commercial for the first time a few days ago. I made my daughter rewind the TiVo to play the commercial. I was called a nerd for the rest of the evening....yeah, I'm psyched!

I'm Very excited about V.

The original is obviously dated by now, but it's still pretty good. Hopefully this remake will not veer into a train wreck like the second V miniseries.

"V for Victory"

I enjoyed watching the original, even though it was kinda cheesy.

I wonder if Robert Englund might cameo this version? (yes, I just made "cameo" into a verb)

Can't wait for this one. I'm a bit young for having been a fan of the original, though I knew of it.

Trailers look interesting.

I've never actually seen the original mini-series, though the upcoming iteration looks really interesting. I suppose if I get into the new series, I'll go back and watch the original.

The aliens have come to steal our water stories always leave me wondering: if they have interstellar travel and all the hi-tech goodies, why don't they know that all you need to do to make water is combine the most common element in the known universe with the third most common element in the known universe?

But I guess I'll watch it.

or why can't they just melt some of the huge chunks of ice floating around the universe? I guess it's more fun to take over a planet full of life.

Good point, why bother combining crap when space is littered with comets made largely of water to begin with.

I think I'm going to need a lobotomy in order to properly enjoy this one. Or maybe just a very very large bottle of scotch.

Come to think of it, Half life 2 used the same plot device. It really seems silly now, starting what's basically an intergalactic war over water.

Consequences of poor public science education.

Whaddyagonnado.

Write a hard science fiction film or TV series that doesn't muck up the scientific facts and treat the audience like a bunch of dolts. Then sell it for a cool million and sit on the beach drinking frozen margaritas and admiring the scantily clad native female population. Gigiddy.

But, yeah, I'll watch V as well. I'll just pretend that their motivation for coming to Earth is not for our H2O. In my version they come to eat all our mice because they consider "micey" a delicacy.

That would be fine. Earth would be like Arrakis, except that instead of being the only place to find sandworms, it's the only place to find mice.

I dunno . . . this seemed rushed yet slow at the same time, like they cut the good exciting parts in order to get to the boring, plodding parts faster.

My sentiments exactly!

It seems like they rushed all the major reveals in order to get to the war between the V's and the humans.

It's revealed in the first episode that they are reptiles and I suppose in the 2nd episode we will find out why they are here.

Any idea how many episodes are in the series? If this is a two parter then I can understand the fast pace of the storyline.

Also, I could have done w/o the single parent with the rebelious teenager storyline, which we have seen all to often.

"what you call tagging, the V's call spreading hope mom". LOL

Overall I enjoyed it; it's a decent remake of the original and I'll stick around to see how it wraps up.
