A7s V 1.10 firmware update

What do you want?
If it starts up significantly faster then it's a good update as I see it.

Sony rather rarely add functionality to cameras in this price range. So I wouldn't expect too much.

I guess what vincent is saying is not that he was expecting new functionality rather wanted to see how much Sony would listen to their customer.
We put together several requests (http://is.gd/1Y1WqX), most of which were adjustments to existing features in order to make the A7s experience better or smoother.

But I think you made a valid point, how much we can expect for a camera in that price range? Probably Sony is already thinking to next product...

This is Sony's highest end mirrorless photo camera. It is reasonable to expect fixes and new features.
Except it is Sony, so none are coming. Lack of decent firmware support comes with the brand.

Does anyone know if there's different updates for cameras bought in different regions?
Can I use the update from Sony US's webpage on my Hong Kong A7s? Or will it turn it to a NTSC/24p only camera?

I have made the update right now from the file on the australian site, because the europe sony download doesn´t work.
an everything work.the benefit is that boot faster on startup.

You got to be kidding me. That post you link is one month old. Do you expect Sony to whip out a firmware out of their ass with all those changes in one month?

Wait an year or two.

By then there might even be A7s Mark II .. it's consumer camera with short life cycle.

Did the upgrade. Holy smoke, the start up time is fast now! Really a significant improvement on my A7s.
In practice, pretty much the only thing that has been really annoying me with the A7s has been the slow start up speed. Really happy about this update.

Got the update from Sony Asia's site and seems I can still switch to NTSC etc...

What? When did I say I would expect Sony to come up with all those changes?

One more thing... I tried doing the update on my primary production machine that has a gazilion devices on it and the firmware software updater was sputtering. Went to a laptop that has very little on it and no USB devices and things went smoothly.

This is a follow-on for anyone having the dreaded "The update is aborted due to an error during the process."

I was using my primary Windows production machine as well, with only one other USB device connected, and was get the error listed directly above.

After reading Andrew's post, I moved to a Windows laptop and had no problem with the update.

Is it me how Sony seems more busy to release a new camera everyday 6 months that giving a good support and firmware upgrade to their customers?

You are not wrong.

However, I am especially intrigued with the newly announced A7 m2 with 5-axis IBIS, hoping that an A7s successor with the same feature is released at some point.

I think buying into Sony product, especially a Sony consumer product, comes with the unfortunate reality that firmware releases will be few and far between. And that those firmware releases will likely not address many of the well-articulated shortcomings.

At least, that's how I have internalized it.

I find that lowering my expectations reduces the "disappointment factor".

Did anyone manage to do the update while running Yosemite on a Mac? I don't have any easy access to another computer. Too bad Sony hasn't updated the firmware to work with the latest OS X .

I haven't tried to use it as yet but noticed this yesterday...

A Driver Loader for MAC OS X ver. 10.10

It worked! I initially had some trouble with the Playmemories program automatically popping open when I attached the camera, so I uninstalled it.

The Driver Loader will appear to do nothing, but once it is running, start the regular update process. If you have to abort the process for some reason, you need to re-run the loader each time before you run the firmware update.

Ah, great, thank you for the links! I just asked the same question on their FB page as it looks like someone is responding to other Posts there.
