A7s to Shogun / 7Q+ hdmi cable for gimbal work

Hey,

So this has been driving me nuts. I cannot find a cable that I can rely on when mounting the a7s with either shogun or 7Q+ onto a ronin. It just drops. No amount of tape or other tricks on the a7s side seem to help... it just loses connection far too often, and is unreliable.

What are people using?

Thanks

These are amazing: http://www.hypershop.com/HyperThin/Worlds-Thinnest-Most-Compact-Flexible-HDMI-Cable/

I have the Full HDMI to Mini HDMI (for connecting FS7's full to 7Q+'s mini). I plan on getting their Full-Full, Full-Micro, and Mini-Micro, just so I have them all for any possible needs (i also have a Gratical with full HDMI, might get an A7s and need the Micro to Mini, etc). They are nearly as thin and flexible as earbud cables. There is virtually no strain on the ports.

Thanks.

Does anybody have the lockport? The image looks odd, and that it extends below the base of the camera. Can someone confirm this?

Lockport is essential and the company is WONDERFUL to work with.
FedEx'd my order from Italy, which arrived NEXT day in a little wooden box. Most excellent--5 stars from me.:dankk2:

Hey - how has the lock port been working for you?

I tried lockport for the 5D and i was not able to use any usb cables as it was not attaching properly, so I'm a little weary of their quality control.

It's working great and yes it does attach properly(although might depend on hdmi cables). The lockport has a tight fit and it takes a little force to insert/outsert(?) so I am not worried of it getting loose, not a bit. I ordered the Perfect Path locking hdmi, havent received it yet, but now i'm thinking I don't need it :)

Bottom line, I recommend the lockport. It's very solid.

Wait a minute. You wrote usb? You did mean hdmi right? If not, how did the lockport interfere with the usb on the 5D? Believe me, this A7 lockport does not wiggle at all. Its very sturdy in everything. :)

Ok, I never tried connecting the usb with the lockport on. It is not possible, I guess the usb is out when using the lockport. Does not bother me, I never use the usb. And for firmware updates(like that has been often) it's very easy to unmount the mini to full hdmi port off without having to screw the baseplate off.

Oops, I meant hdmi. not sure how usb flipped in there.

But yeah, I was not able to use the lockport for the 5D with any hdmi cables - tried it right there at my AV retailer and we went through a few cables. None of the ones on hand fit.

I've received the LockPort (went for the whole "birdcage") and I'm rather disappointed. The connection is still kinda loose... seems that it keeps the cable a few mm away from where it should.. i.e., it's not fully in, and connection does drop. Sometimes it doesn't even want to work, i have to loosen it and reinsert.

I also ordered the perfect path locking hdmi cables and they are horrible. The mechanism used means that it is not able to connect fully to a number of ports. LockPort being one, to my small hd DP4 being another. Back of the small HD 502 it does however. Very disappointed in both of these, and they were shipped, so not an easy return to make :S

Shoulda just gone for the movcam cage.

Hi, any other comments or a review of the Birdcage? I love how compact and well built it looks, but i cant find any reviews online.

I'm starting to really lose it here with signal cutting out. Even with full to full via lockport adaptor, the signal staying is a 50/50 chance.

Can anybody recommend exactly how I can go about figuring out where exactly this is coming from... ie... is my shogun hdmi in port damaged? is my a7s micro hdmi out damaged? Are all my cables somehow damaged? is the lockport poor and unable to work as intended?

I'm really not sure the first step to figuring out the issue. Picked up the Ronin-M and a7s/shogun on it is so very, very light and a dream to operate compared to the full version, but it keeps dropping signal and driving me nuts!

Anybody have some suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Sad to hear about this. Not my experience, alway good connection here, often used with ronin and came tv 7800. Yes I can see that hdmi cable does not go all the way in, but on mine it sits tight, i have to wiggle it out. I use this cable: https://aerialpixels.com/shop/ultra...ro-hdmi-to-hdmi-v1-4-high-speed-cable-1m-3ft/
