A7S recording to Ninja Blade or O7Q Prores contrast issue

Roro which HDMI cables did you switch to? Unfortunately all of mine have the contrast issue (they're all Pearstone which are pretty cheap).

EDIT: Just read on another forum that a ton of people have this issue...can anyone else confirm that a cable can fix this problem? I don't think that's possible unfortunately...

EDIT 2: As stated by maarek in this thread, it may be a 0-255 vs. 16-235 issue: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthrea...-s-own-SLOG-2-gamma-curve-over-it-s-HDMI-port

I'll test tonight to see if DR remains the same when I pull down highlights & lift shadows in the ProRes footage.

Here's a side by side. After lowering whites/raising blacks and dropping saturation a bit, you can see that the dynamic range is identical (fridge interior) [PS this was shot @ 12,800 because I was testing low light noise at the time]

Ralph- yes the scaled down 4K image is noticeably sharper than the 1080 image. We will use this until the Shogun is available or until CD adds A7S support for our 7Q.

I dunno, looked to me more like the scaler just does a worse quality nearest neighbor or bilinear downscale at best so it looks sharper but really it's just more aliased. If you sharpened both you might find the the non-scaler footage more pleasing and useable... the sharpness of the scaler samples looks fishy, a lot of the detail has high frequenct contrast but just doesn't seem accurate...
